Who is excited for summer? I definitely am. I know that you guys have probably heard me whine a lot about the summer heat – that’s how I roll. But this weekend I got a break from the heat with a trip to Wet N Wild Emerald Pointe [and a dip in the super refreshing wave pool]!
Wet ‘N Wild Emerald Pointe: Now Offering A Beer Garden
My sister, April, and her family had never been to Emerald Pointe before. I have been going for 20 years and I guess I just took it for granted that everyone had been. I am glad that they finally got to go this year. So April, Jason [her husband], their kids Kelsey, Preston, Bradley and I all went to the massive water park in Greensboro on Saturday. And they drove – which meant I got to chill in the back seat the whole way! So, when I say that I got to relax on Saturday, you know that I mean the WHOLE day. Ahhh… 🙂
In most of my past visits to Emerald Point, I would be the one to sit and guard our seats and valuables while everyone else rode rides, played in the wave pool, whatever. Not that I really minded because I would lay back in one of those nice lounge chairs, listen to music and the waves from the wave pool, read, and nap. I feel like, if you can get it, a day to relax is always worth it. Am I right? 😀
But this year we were in a private cabana again. I can’t stress enough how much I think getting a cabana is the way to do it. Ours had 4 loungers, a table with 4 chairs and 2 extra chairs. So, you and 9 of your closest friends can really relax away from the crowd. That’s definitely how I like to roll. It’s nice to have a designated spot to leave your stuff and/or enjoy a moment away from the crowd on occasion. Learn more about everything that a private cabana has to offer here.
One thing that is new this year at Wet ‘N Wild Emerald Pointe is the addition of a beer garden. It’s right before the cabanas on the left side of the wave pool. I have never drank at the park but I know that many of you will be interested in this. From my understanding, you could only drink at a place called the Crow’s Nest before – and I am not sure where that is. But now you can drink in the designated beer garden and I think that you can also have beer served in the cabanas.
Though the cabanas are full service, we did not utilize the services of the waitress this time. Instead, April and Jason went and bought chicken tenders, fries and drinks for everyone. They said they got a meal deal which saved them a lot of money. Since I have never purchased food that way in the park, I thought I would share. Everyone loves finding ways to save a few bucks, especially with a big family and lots of people to feed. So I definitely consider this a win.
I actually spent like 2 hours I guess in the wave pool myself this time. It was so much fun to try to jump up in time to catch a wave without it catching you in the face first, ha! The wave pool is definitely my favorite part of the park. Well, that and the cabanas. The sound of the wave pool reminds me of the waves at the beach and makes me feel like this daycation is instead actually a full on vacation.
I think April’s boys rode every ride in the park except for like 1 or 2. Kelsey, April and Jason even rode a ton and I was happy to relax in the cabana and walk around taking pictures the rest of the day. I think it’s good to get to the park early – like we did, we got there at opening – so that we could ride all the rides before it got busy. April and her family all said that they loved the water park and I am glad that they finally got to experience it for themselves. And I always love Emerald Pointe and can’t wait until my next chance to visit again.
