Heartwarming Christmas Show Comes To Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede

October 26, 2016 by Dawn McAlexander

Heartwarming Christmas Show Comes To Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede

We have been to the Dixie Stampede several times over the years. Anytime we are in Pigeon Forge, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede is almost always on the agenda. I haven’t seen the Christmas Show, but all of the other shows there I have seen have been fantastic. But just like Dollywood at Christmas, I bet Dixie Stampede will also be extra special.

Heartwarming Christmas Show Comes To Dixie Stampede

The “high-spirited adventure” of Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction receives a festive twist for the 2016 holiday season with the magnificent sights and sounds of Christmas, including a full-scale living Nativity, holiday decorations, Santa Claus and a fabulous four-course Christmas feast. The Christmas show at “The Most Fun Place to Eat in the Smokies” debuts Nov. 1 and runs through New Year’s Day.

Thanks to last season’s renovations, which added a state-of-the-art, LED wall backdrop to the show’s 35,000-square-foot arena, Christmas at Dixie Stampede becomes a fascinating experience for everyone in the family. The LED wall backdrop seamlessly complements the exciting action with stunning holiday scenery which immerses guests and helps them feel as if they instantly have been transported deep in to the natural beauty of Christmas from the foothills surrounding the Great Smoky Mountains to the clear skies above Bethlehem on the night of Jesus’ birth.

“Christmas is a very special time of year at Dixie Stampede,” said David Swangel, General Manager of Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge. “While our thrilling high-spirited adventure provides fun for our guests thanks to the friendly rivalry between the North and South Poles, we also take time to celebrate the meaning of Christmas thanks to a full-scale, living Nativity. Families always take the time to let us know this show has become a treasured part of their yearly traditions.”

Guests will be awed by the birth of Jesus reenacted with Mary, Joseph, the wise men and a living Nativity of camels, donkeys and sheep. This touching scene is a reminder of the importance of the Christmas season.

Families also will enjoy “Toys Come to Life,” an amazing musical fantasy starring The Sugar Plum Fairy and a number of toys she magically brings to life in a musical celebration which includes a stunning aerial display set to the unforgettable music of The Nutcracker.

The stars of the show challenge each other in barrel races and other thrilling competitions, all in the name of Dixie Stampede’s friendly Christmas rivalry between the North and South Poles. Audience members even may find themselves called in to help their side to victory. Finally, no Christmas would be complete without an appearance by Santa, as Old Saint Nick arrives in his sleigh while the arena is transformed into a winter wonderland of freshly fallen snow.

Christmas dinner, the other star of the show, includes Dixie Stampede’s signature four-course feast consisting of Dixie Stampede’s original creamy vegetable soup, homemade buttery biscuit, a whole rotisserie chicken, hickory-smoked barbequed pork loin, corn on the cob, herb-basted potato, Dixie Stampede’s own specialty dessert and unlimited beverages. Vegetarian meals are available upon request.

Guests are invited to start their fun-filled evening in the Dixie Belle Saloon with the side-splitting comedy and hard-driving bluegrass and country music of Mountain Ruckus, Dixie Stampede’s house band. The band performs one hour prior to show time. Show times and reservations are available by calling 1-800-356-1676 or visiting www.dixiestampede.com.

This sounds like so much fun and somewhat like what we have here in Florida – well in Christmas, FL. It’s a small town about 25 minutes west of where we live and year-round it’s Christmas there. They even have a park decorated with Christmas trees!

This is the first time that I am hearing about Dixie Stampede and it’s something that I would like to go to. Christmas is one of the biggest seasons celebrated all over the world and it’s just so nice when people- organizations- come up with these activities to add to the festivities of the season.

This sounds like an event our entire family would love to see! Our little ones are loving the winter wonderland they see in their favorite shows. Living in South Florida, we don’t get to see the snowfall.
