Real Pets & Weight Loss: Gracie’s Perfect Weight Story #ad #PerfectWeight

May 12, 2015 by Dawn McAlexander

This post is sponsored by Hill’s. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about Hill’s® Science Diet® Perfect Weight 10 Week Turnaround, but Cheap Is The New Classy only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc. is not responsible for the content of this article.

Gracie's Weight Loss Story: Hill's Science Diet Perfect Weight

You may have been seeing the informative Hill’s® Science Diet® Perfect Weight posts I have been posting over the past few months. Well, Gracie {Kimberly’s cat from Saving More Than Me} has been actually taking the weight loss challenge. She took the 10 Week Turnaround and I want to share with you her results so that you can see how this plan works out in a real life scenario.

Gracie’s Perfect Weight Journey

Are you wondering if your pet is overweight. One thing that can help you decide is the Pet Weight Scoring Tool from Hill’s. Kimberly used this as one way of determining whether her cat was overweight or not. This is a handy questionnaire that you can take in just minutes that helps you ask the right questions and gives you insight into weight and how it affects your pets lifestyle.

Gracie's Weight Loss Story: Hill's Science Diet Perfect Weight

Over a few weeks, Gracie transitioned to Science Diet Perfect Weight and Kimberly reports that it was easy. She said that Gracie liked the taste {which is not always the case when we try to lose weight, am I right?} so that was definitely a relief. We want our pets to have tasty food and be healthy. Now, these do not have to be mutually exclusive.

Science Diet 10 Week Turnaround

Gracie’s Results

Gracie experienced a few minor setbacks, she was able to get back on track pretty easily with the help of Hill’s. Gracie started at 17 pounds and is now down 1.5 pounds! That is almost a 10% change in weight. Congrats to Gracie and her owners for helping her live a longer, healthier life.

Download A Handy Schedule To Help You On Your Journey

Starting a weight loss routine is sometimes the hardest part. But you want to keep your pet healthy and happy for as long as possible. So you need to practice consistency with balanced nutrition. Schedules help with being sure that exercise and proper nutrition are maintained. You can download a handy schedule to help you with this from Hill’s.

Please keep in mind that it is important to carefully measure your pet’s food so that he or she is not getting too little or too much. Pet food comes with feeding guidelines to help you with knowing what the proper amount is.

It sounds like a great brand. My dog is right where he is supposed to be, but I would like to keep him that way.

What a little cutie! One of our cats is on the chunky side too. We are working on it.

Miss Gracie is a perfect example of why so many people have overweight animals. She looks too cute for her little chunky self. Best of luck on her weight loss!

1.5 lbs is a lot for a cat. Good for her. I bet she’ll feel like a kitten soon!

  6. Christy Maurer says

I’ll have to tell my parents about this. Their kitty is overweight. I’ve had overweight cats in the past, but mine are okay right now. Gracie did great on that food!

Way to go, Gracie! I’m such a sucker for a good weight loss story, even when it involves our pets. Our dog is at his perfect weight, but I make sure I don’t feed him things that aren’t good for him. It’s tough sometimes. I’m glad that Science Diet has developed a product to help overweight pets.

Wow, this food seems pretty impressive! Everyone I know has fat cats that could benefit from this cat food!

1.5 pounds! That is awesome! Thankfully my girl is at a good weight. My best friend has some hefty boys. I will have to show her this post and see if she will give it a try. I would love to see her beautiful boys healthier

Thank you for your wonderful review on Science Diet. I own two beautiful cats, but one of them looks like Barney. She definitely needs to get on a diet! I’ll definitely look into this brand and join the Sweepstakes too!

One of our cats is chubby due to winter weight. She always loses her extra pounds in the spring and summer. The other cat is always a light healthy cat (even if he is 19 yrs old).

Wow that’s a big change in a short amount of time. I know my daughter struggles to keep her cats at a healthy weight.

That’s great at what a change food can make. I’m going to have to try this for my cats. Sounds like it’s a great healthy option for them.

That is really good, one of my cats used to be skin and bones! Way too skinny so we fed him kitten food to fatten him up, he is at a really healthy weight now!

I definitely think my cat could benefit from weightloss. But the husband doesn’t agree with me. /sigh. Maybe I will change his food without the husband knowing and see if it makes a difference. 🙂

We don’t have cats but when we owned dogs, I remember Hill’s Science Diet as being one of the brands the vet recommended! I think it is great they are helping pet owners be more responsible about their pets’ weight.

I hate to admit it, but our Great Dane has struggled with her weight. We’ve recently gotten it under control, but the fight goes on, right? Maybe Hills Science Diet would be a good way to keep her on the right track.

Gracie is such a pretty kitty! I’m glad that she is getting healthier on Hills Science Diet. The hubs wants to get a cat one day, and I think I know what food we’ll start it on!

We adopted an elderly dog late last summer. He was very overweight – looked like a meatloaf with legs! We’ve helped him trim down and it’s really amazing how much healthier he is. He seems like a puppy most days!

Oh my goodness, that’s one chubby kitty 😛
I actually *prefer* a fat cat- I know it’s not the healthiest option but they’re so much more snuggly. It’s great you’re taking care of Gracie’s health and I can’t wait to see the “after” photos once she’s been on Science Diet for a while!
    Good luck 🙂

Your cat had great results with this brand. My cat isn’t fat at all, in fact she’s getting quite thin – she is 16 years old now! I hope your cat will continue to be healthy and thriving 🙂

Science Diet is great!!! I actually read a blog review probably almost a year ago now…. I have two cats and one omg… It was the biggest cat you would of ever seen. Switched to science diet and OMG! My cat is still alittle puggy but she’s a totally different cat now! And so much healthier now that she’s not obese lol… She can actually jump to high places now lol….

With pets it’s even harder than humans because if they don’t like it, they won’t eat it. Plain and simple. 😉 Glad you got the best of both worlds here. 🙂

My cat could definitely use this! He’s very overweight and could stand to lose a few pounds.

The lab we adopted last year is down about 20 pounds since we got him, getting close to where he should be. Not having other smaller dogs around to steal their food has helped, along with 5 kids to run him ragged. As he gets older, we are paying more attention to what he eats also, not just how much.

Our pets have put on weight since we adopted them. I should make sure they stay active and feed them the right foods!

My cat used to be so fat, I finally decided to have to change her diet. I’m going to tell my aunt about this, she has been looking for a new food.
