It is so hot outside. Too freakin’ hot! The thermometer reads 85 degrees at our house today. But, if you are from the south as we are, you know it isn’t the heat that gets you, it’s the humidity. And with the humidity at 50% at the moment, it feels like the temps are in the mid 90s. Whew! Now is the time that we need something to cool us off and we have just the thing: DIY chocolate dipped waffle cones accompanied by Turkey Hill Dairy All Natural Gelato.
DIY Chocolate Dipped Waffle Cones
You will need…
Your favorite chocolate syrup
Your favorite caramel syrup {optional}
Pecans {crushed; or favorite nuts of your choice}
Waffle cones
To Prepare…
Fill a small bowl about 1/2 inch full of chocolate syrup. Fill another bowl about 1/2 inch full of caramel and pour some crushed pecans {or other nuts} in another bowl.
Dip the waffle cone in either the chocolate or caramel syrup, whichever you choose, and shake off the excess syrup.
Next, dip the waffle cone in the nuts and roll it around until the syrup is covered in nuts.
Set on a plate to let dry or immediately fill with your favorite frozen treat. We recommend Turkey Hill All Natural Gelato, and serve.
Turkey Hill All Natural Gelato
Turkey Hill All Natural Gelato is available wherever Turkey Hill products are sold. But what exactly is gelato? Well, basically it’s Italian ice cream. Turkey Hill All Natural Gelato is made with simple ingredients, such as milk, cream, sugar and vanilla. It also has less air than most ice creams, giving it a richer, denser texture. And believe me, it is oh so good! It is available in eight different flavors, including Hazelnut, Purely Vanilla and Peach Mango! We sampled the Sea Salted Caramel, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Mint Chocolate Chip. 🙂
The Sea Salted Caramel is Dawn’s personal favorite, and my personal favorite is Chocolate Chocolate Chip. When you add either of these to the DIY chocolate dipped waffle cones it really hits the spot! What a great treat on a hot and humid day.
Did you know that Turkey Hill is the first ice cream major brand to offer an all natural gelato?
We found that the Turkey Hill All Natural Gelatos are absolutely delicious! And we thing that you will love them, too.

That is such a clever idea! We eat ice cream pretty much every day in our house, so I am going to make these for the kids (and me) this weekend.
I used to make my own waffle cones, but never thought of dipping them in chocolate. YuM! Now you are making me hungry.
I dip rims of mocktail glasses in sugar, lime juice, etc. all the time, but I have never thought to dip a waffle cone in chocolate and nuts. It’s great! I’m going to make ice cream cones this weekend and my grandkids are going to think I’m so smart. 🙂
Awesome! I hope they love your really smart idea. 😉
I’m all for homemade versions of ANYthing! These look delicious and they are SO easy to prepare…and I’m sure much cheaper than buying them!
Definitely. They only take a few minutes but are pretty expensive to buy pre-made.
I adore gelato, there are so many different flavors and I love how creamy it is! Those cones look amazing too!
OMG, those look amazing! I’ve never thought to doctor up my own waffle cones before. yay!
My kids are going to flip out when we do this. This looks so good. Thanks for this great idea!
Those cones look so good! I like Turkey Hill ice cream, I didn’t know they made gelato! I have to find the gelato!
This is such a fun post! I love a good dipped cone, but I’ve never knows how to get it to stay on the cone!
Oh wow! These look super yummy, I would love to have my own chocolate dipped waffle cones. What a great idea with the warm weather coming around.
Why have I never thought of doing this? I love sea salted caramel gelato and I can’t wait to try Turkey Hill gelato. Now I am excited to go to the supermarket tomorrow!
I never thought to dip my own cones like this before! This sounds like the perfect cool treat!!
This looks so delicious. I love these kind of cones. I will have to try this on the weekend for my BBQ.
I’m so glad that ice-cream season is upon us once again. These are a delicious twist on a traditional ice-cream cone.
Oh how fun is that!~ I might try this technique with my kids, I am sure they would be more than willing to do it. Ice cream tmeis here, yay!
Those do look yummy! We love ice cream in this family so I must try this out. My kids will love it!
These look amazing! I would love to put together some of those waffle cones the next time we have guests!
Those little touches like that make something good turn into something great. I’d definitely give this a try.
Those look really good. I bet my kiddos would love to dip their waffle cones like this.
What a cute and easy way to welcome in the summer. I could see this being a cute ice cream bar set up for a summer party as well 🙂
Definitely. You could really use all kinds of syrups {not just the flavors we chose} and let the kids or guests make them themselves.
These look so great! My son is addicted to the waffle cone blizzards at DQ so now I can make these at home!!
My kids LOVE chocolate dipped cones. I did not know that they were so easy to make. I am making it this weekend
This is such a great idea. We do grilled waffle cones when camping and I would love to dip them like you did. Turkey Hill is a brand I met in Cape Cod MA and I love their ice creams! My favorites are always the limited editions!
Yummy! I hadn’t thought about making these myself but I do love them at the ice cream shops!
Yes, please! I’d just eat the cone. No ice cream needed! Those look delicious. What a great idea. It would be fun to do with the kids.
Kids could definitely help with this. It might be a bit messy, but it’s really easy. 🙂
Waffle cones are my favorite kind of cones. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
I’ll have a scoop of each! All the flavors are so tempting! I’ll be looking for the brand Turkey Hill. Love that the ingredients are all natural!
Love me some waffle cones. I have seen more and more about gelato and how it has a denser, richer texture than ice cream. I love ice cream (who doesn’t, really) I just keep forgetting to pick some up when I’m out. All natural is great, with more and more being learned about how High fructose corn syrup messes up your body, I’m glad to see a push back to sugar. It’s still not something to over indulge in, but it’s a lot better than the other option.
What a fun way to enjoy some tasty gelato. I’ll have to check out the grocery stores near our relatives this summer to find the Turkey Hill brand. That chocolate chocolate chip is calling my name.
I love waffle cones and I am so excited summer is here so ice cream socials all start up soon!
My mouth is watering – I love gelato. Those cones would make my son very, very happy! Thank goodness it’s the season for cold treats 🙂
This would be perfect for the nights when we host pool parties. I love how simple it is! Turkey Hill has awesome ice cream – we haven’t tried the gelato yet.
Yum! This is the perfect summer snack.
