Recently, we have been trying out some new melons that we have been finding at the local farmer’s markets. I have heard the same thing about watermelon. I also heard that it’s good to eat if you are anemic because it helps your body absorb iron, though I am not sure if that’s true or not.

I used to love watermelon when I lived in the south. I am not sure what the deal is but since moving to the north it just doesn’t taste the same to me. I love it in its raw form, but haven’t ever been a fan of watermelon based things.
I can’t say that I have tasted one from the north. Next time I travel there, I will have to try one to see the difference.

Those all look delicious! I love watermelon so much! We get fresh squeezed watermelon juice from a local market and it is amazing! So refreshing on a hot day!

That cantaloupe cake with coconut looks din. I used to try all the different melons at our market too, but my son is allergic to melons. Now I just buy a cup worth and add them to my morning smoothie.

My picky eater actually LOVES a variety of melons, will have to try out some of these recipes. When I do, I will be sure to feel as if Summer is still here. This should be titled “recipes to allow you to hang onto summer” lol We are getting chilly here in NH for Fall season.
