If you have been reading along you know that a few weeks ago, my family and I took a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. While we were there, we got to take part in many different fun attractions. Out of all the things we did, one of my favorites would have to be going to see the “Good Vibrations” show at Calvin Gilmore’s Carolina Opry. We decided that since we are a range of age groups, that “Good Vibrations” would be the best show for us.
Hear Tunes From The 60s, 70s And 80s At Carolina Opry’s Good Vibrations
“Good Vibrations” includes a number of songs, dances, and skits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s with hit songs from popular artists like Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Kiss, Tina Turner, and Blondie. Not only was there great music being performed by high quality singers, but there were also a team of cloggers called “All That!” If you watch America’s Got Talent, then you have probably heard of them.
All My Friends…Have Hip Replacements
For one of the skits, a comedic entertainer/singer came out and rewrote the lyrics to many famous songs and made them humorous. For instance, he replaced the lyrics to Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks to “All my friends have hip replacements.” It was hilarious! We were singing that to each other the rest of the trip but my mom kept messing it up and singing it to the tune of George Strait’s “All My Exes Live In Texas.” That works, too, haha! Oh Mr. Comedian: If you are reading this, you can use that idea. 😉
They also did a Cheech and Chong skit! My friend Mackenzie and I both agreed that our favorite part of the show was when “All That!” was dancing to a mash-up of Michael Jackson songs. I can’t believe some of the stuff they can do!
Christie Templeton: Little But Loud
Overall, the lights were great, and the singing was phenomenal. Out of the three main female singers, my favorite would have to be Christie Templeton. At first she seems so small and dainty, so you can see why I would be surprised when I heard her thrillingly big and powerful voice. It was beautiful. Although she sang a variety of songs, my favorite was her cover of “Call Me” by Blondie – She rocked it!
Rock To The Tunes Of Led Zeppelin And Journey With Brad Long
Mom’s favorite was Brad Long. She just could not stop talking about him. He performed songs by Led Zeppelin {Rock and Roll} and Journey {Separate Ways}. And yes, he can hit the high notes! He was absolutely phenomenal. Mom has seen Robert Plant in concert, and she said that they were both equally enjoyable.
Overall, the whole family enjoyed the show. It takes you down memory lane to three rockin’ generations, where you get to hear a variety of music that every age group can enjoy. The singing, light show, clogging, and video screens are sure to keep you entertained and singing along for the rest of the night.
Enjoy A Great Show Without Compromising Comfort
We also wanted to especially note: the seats are so comfy! They are wide and roomy and you can lay back a bit if you like. You can sit comfortably without your neighbor’s arm rubbing against you. There was also plenty of distance between us and the seats in front of us. Some of these places pack you in like sardines. That is definitely NOT the case at Carolina Opry. We had a huge day before we went to the Carolina Opry and we all really appreciated the wonderfully comfortable atmosphere. You don’t always get that at these types of shows. And my dad said they have the best popcorn in all of Myrtle Beach. He is quite the popcorn connoisseur so he would know. 🙂
Socialize With The Carolina Opry
How fun!! I love watching cloggers and have only ever got to see them on television. To see them in person would be a treat.

Ooh this sounds like an awesome time! I’d love something like this, love the lights and the action as well as hearing people sing. I really need to make it out there someday!
We make it to Myrtle Beach a few times a year. We haven’t gone to the Opry yet, though!

Good Vibrations is my mom’s favorite show at the Carolina Opry. I have not been to the Carolina Opry in a long time, but the last time I went (about 8 years ago), we had a blast!
We had never been before this time. I hope to go back one day and catch another show.

I can imagine my two best friends and I absolutely having a fab time enjoying this show. It’s the type of thing we look for when we’re together for at least one night to hit every musical love that each of us has. Your pictures are great and the memories you shared are even greater. “All my friends have hip replacements” – would be a line we would repeat for years to come!

Last time I went to the Carolina Opry was about 15 years ago and I LOVED it! I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to either go along with us or stay at the beach house while we go!
