See Myrtle Beach From About 200 Feet Above On The SkyWheel #ad @SkyWheelMB #MyMyrtleBeach

March 19, 2014 by Amber {contributor}

See the Myrtle Beach Strip and the Atlantic Ocean from 200 feet above the ground on the SkyWheel.Cheap Is The New Classy

When going to Myrtle Beach, everyone knows that walking the Strip can be a great way to spend a hot night. There you can get shirts made, play arcade games, eat tasty fried foods, and even ride the SkyWheel! The SkyWheel is a 187 foot tall Ferris wheel that is located on the strip in Myrtle Beach. Despite my fear of heights and my additional fear of Ferris wheels, my friend Mackenzie convinced me to ride the SkyWheel this past week.

See the Myrtle Beach Strip and the Atlantic Ocean from 200 feet above the ground on the SkyWheel.

When built, the SkyWheel was the second tallest Ferris wheel in America. When entering the strip, you can immediately see it due to it being lit by a beautiful display of lights. Although I was scared to death, I really enjoyed the experience. The wait was short, and soon we entered onto the ride. The compartments you sit in are air conditioned and even have emergency buttons and speakers (to my relief). I was scared the entire time, but I have to admit, the view was amazing.

Get The SkyWheel VIP Treatment

Also the SkyWheel offers a VIP flight which includes double ride time, a pass to the front of the line, a T-shirt, and a lanyard. To top all that off, you will also get to ride in the special VIP compartment that includes leather seats and a glass flooring.

The picture on the right shows the view from inside the SkyWheel from about halfway up.

While riding up higher and higher, you get a view of the entire strip, and the brilliantly blue and seemingly endless ocean. This was by far the nicest Ferris wheel I have ever ridden on. Although I was still scared and shaken, I felt quite a bit safer on it because it looks sturdy and it was totally enclosed. The staff was nice, and the ride was pleasant.

Enjoy Privacy On The SkyWheel

Only the two of us rode, but up to six people can ride in one compartment at a time. This means you and the family can enjoy the ride together. Another great thing is that you will never be paired with strangers. Even if there are only two of you, Myrtle Beach SkyWheel promises that you will get your own private ride. We had an amazing time, and loved being able to see the ocean from that high up. I am glad Mackenzie got me to ride it, and honestly I would probably do it again.

The SkyWheel is also wheelchair accessible.

    What an amazing view! I really like how large the compartments are…no worries about how to split up the family or going multiple times so as to accompany all the kids.

    I will never go on a ferris wheel again. I have a fear of heights. Years ago, I went on one with my daughter. We were stuck on top and she shook the cart. I cried, she laughed.

    I bet the views are breathtaking and the experience unreal. I used to love Ferris wheels…the excitement, heights, and view. I’m not sure if I could or want to ride them now, but there is still an aww factor with them.
