Have you ever had a craving for a certain flavor chip that you can’t find anywhere. Or have you ever thought, “What if this chip had some pepper? Or some hot sauce?” Well, you are in luck. Lay’s is inviting potato chip fans nationwide to create the perfect chip flavor in the “Do Us A Flavor” Contest. And one lucky chip meister will be rewarded greatly for their efforts – to the tune of one millions dollars (see rules)!

Who Could Use A Million Dollars? Me!

Fans nationwide are being invited to submit their potato chip flavor creations and a panel of judges including chefs, foodies and flavor experts will choose their favorite four. Then, in summer 2014, Lay’s will market the final four chip selections and the public gets to decide which one they like the best. These chips will be sold nationwide, so even if you don’t win the grand prize (see rules), you will still be the coolest person your friends know. 😉

Unlike in the past, this year’s “Do Us A Flavor” contestants will get to choose between three potato chip forms – Lay’s Original, Lay’s Kettle Cooked and/or Lay’s Wavy – for their flavor ideas. Personally, I like Original best, so if you pick that one to work with, I am probably, totally voting for you. 🙂

Someone definitely needs to create the chip that tastes exactly like it already has the French Onion Dip on it. It needs to taste like real dip, not flavoring. Oh. My. Gosh. Yum! When my husband and I veg out on the couch in front of the TV, we totally fight over the French Onion Dip for our chips.

I also really, really, really love Mexican and spicy food. Everyone in this house was all over those Sriracha flavored chips. The person behind those is a true visionary!

Amber’s Sour Cream and Vinegar Potato Chips

Or perhaps my daughter had it right. She used to eat chips with mashed potatoes, gravy, sour cream and vinegar. It sounds really nasty but was actually SUPER good. It tasted just like sour cream and onion potato chips mixed with salt and vinegar, but better! So, I think that might be my submission! Since the chips are already potatoes, why not just add gravy flavoring, sour cream and vinegar!

All you have to do is enter by submitting a flavor name, up to three ingredients, chip style (Lay’s Original, Wavy, and/or Kettle Cooked), and a brief description for the flavor.       I like salt and pepper chips, too. I got some great ones while I was in Danville, Va., one time, but can’t remember who makes them to save my life.

    Hmmmmm – now if I could invent a chip that had one of these awesome flavors and no calories, I’d probably make the million dollars! Since I don’t see that happening any time soon, I am thinking that I like your daughter’s idea!

      For real! I am all over that one. There was also one that I saw later that was grilled cheese and tomato soup that I loved. I am REALLY hoping to see the grilled cheese and tomato soup one in stores this summer. 🙂

    I remember they had this contest last year. The chicken and waffle winner was not good at all, but we did love the sirracha (sp?) flavor! Can’t wait to see the new ones this year!

    People are so incredibly creative to come up with these chip flavors! I’d choose bacon out of those but my favorite is BBQ.

    I saw this contest when it first came out. I thought about it, but I honestly don’t know what combination I would come up with, that hasn’t already been done, or that isn’t gross!

    Sounds like a great contest. Not sure what flavor I would pick but I would love the cash. I do really have a craving now for chips and french onion dip.

    Bacon bacon bacon! As a self diagnosed bacon addict, I know I would go with a Lays Chip made from bacon. This contest is always fun.

    I’m with you on the French Onion dip! I was OBSESSED in middle school & got burnt out on it, but I still like it occasionally.

    I think this is a great idea. But one of the kinds that won last time (chicken and waffles) was entirely un-edible. Sorry, it just was.
