Do you want to remodel your kitchen? I think that most people have something that they would like to change about their kitchen. However, lack of money and lack of carpentry or handyman skills can really put a damper on those plans. When we moved into our home, the kitchen was as blue as the eye could see. Blue counters. Blue backsplash. Blue isn’t the worst color ever, but, like everything else, it gets old.
DIY Projects Made Easier
We were able to paint our countertops to look like granite a year or so ago, but the backsplash still needed some work. I wanted to install backsplash tiles and I was not worried about installing them except for corners, around the kitchen window, etc. How would I cut a tile? It all just seemed like too much of a pain. Then I discovered Smart Tiles.
How To Install Smart Tiles Peel And Stick Backsplash Tiles
We started out with smooth laminate so there was no sanding involved. We cleaned our backsplash thoroughly with all purpose kitchen cleaner {don’t use anything that is oily or will leave a film}. Then we measured out a few places to make sure that out tiles would fit nicely and be even. Then we peeled the backing off of the Idaho Smart Tiles backsplash tiles and stuck them right to the existing backsplash. It was a very fast process that I worked on a few minutes at a time for a few days. You really could finish it in a few hours if you just stay at it, though. I think the peel and stick backsplash tiles from Smart Tiles look great. If I saw these in someone else’s house, I would never know they were fake unless I REALLY REALLY looked closely.

I can’t find anything that I don’t like about these tiles. They are super easy to install and you can use scissors {they recommend using a cutting board and blade, but scissors worked fine for my purposes} to cut the tiles to fit in weird spots. Also, since there is no grout, I feel there will never be a need to whip out the old toothbrush to clean the Smart Tiles – just wipe them down with a soft sponge. Lower price to buy, less work to install and less work to maintain. That makes me really happy. 🙂

I like the Bellagio Keystone. We bought anew(older)home last year and have already remodeled most of the kitchen—I still need to tile the back splash. Also coming up this year is a bathroom remodel that will need both shower tile and tile work around the vanity.
I really like the “Idaho”. The colors in “Idaho” Smart Tile can be used for many color palates because of its Multi Color theme. We’ve been needing a backsplash behind our stove for years. I had never heard of Smart Tiles until now. This is a great and easy way to accomplish something I thought only a professional could accomplish. Thanks a lot for the information.

i love the murano metalik, i love the colors of it and i think it would look awesome in my kitchen. i really need to redo my kitchen so thats where i would put it. they have a ton of great designs, thanks a bunch for showing me

I love the Muretto Brina tiles. I would use them in our guest bathroom, they would be so pretty in there.

There were a few I liked. My two best were Idaho and Murano Metalik.
I really like the Brownie Tile. I have a wall area in my kitchen that is behind my self made “Coffee Station”. This would be ideal there and would be much easier to clean the splashes of coffee off of than a painted wall.
Yay to the coffee station!!! We have to have our coffee. 🙂

Did your cabinets turn out nice? How hard was it to do?
Yes, they came out great! It wasn’t very hard (But I was a manager for an interior finish company for 10 years…) One thing I would recommend is; after sanding them use 2 coats of an OIL BASED primer to cover the wood and what ever finish is left on them. It’ may have more of an odor and takes a little longer to dry but if you use water based you have a chance of bleeding from what ever finish is left on the cabinets. We did two coats of finish with Sherwin Williams ProClassic high gloss – finishing with a cut brush and 1/4″ nap roller. They came out excellent! If you have a Sherwin Williams, they’ve got great people to help with paint and material choice! Here’s a link to pictures of our finished cabinets/floors/ceiling. I would choose Harmony for the kitchen or Subway white for the bathroom. We used floor tiles as a backslash in our kitchen.

I might choose the subway sand. There are several I like but, didn’t write them down and forget. I’d use them in the bathroom. We always get water mark stains that are hard to clean off of a painted wall. I get streaks.
I think that Hexago would be perfect to lighten up my dark kitchen. most everything is some kind of brown and This would help brake it up, all the way across the wall running behind the sink. TFS.
I think the Subway Sand would be my choice. They should look nice as the back splash in my kitchen with my dark cabinets
I like the Infinity Rosso. It’s such a beautiful coffee color! I have an accent wall that divides my kitchen and living room. It needs something unique and I think this would be perfect!

There is a couple of place I have been wanting to put wall tile. In the kitchen I would love to have the Bellagio Sabbia tiles. The Bathroom is the other room I wanted wall tile, the subway tile I like in there. There wasn’t much of a choice for brighter color tiles so I had to go with a neutral. I chose the Subway Sand for there.
I like either the Lagoon or the Subway White tiles. I would like to use them in our bathroom where we have no backsplash behind a pedestal sink.
I like all of the styles. Today I think the white subway tiles might be classic for my kitchen.

I think the Muretto Brina tiles would look amazing in my kitchen! That is, AFTER I paint my counters the shade of grey that I want. The pattern would match my 12 x 24 black slate tile floors.

They have stuck wonderfully! I suggest holding them for a few seconds after you stick them to the wall. Also, make sure to clean the wall thoroughly before sticking them. We have also seen no bubbling or melting. They come with directions of how close you can get them to your stove. We have a stove with the part that comes up in the back, so that was good. If you have a totally flat stove top, you have to do things a little differently, if I remember correctly.
At any rate, they are working out great for us, and look beautiful. 🙂 I highly recommend them and would definitely use them elsewhere in my home.

Are you asking about the tile colors themselves? If so, they are kind of earthy colors, I guess you would say {greens, creams, reds, etc. – there is also a gray-purplish color}. However, when they catch the light, they appear different colors. I hope that helps.
