Something For The Entire Family At The Smoky Mountain Opry In Pigeon Forge TN #ad

September 18, 2013 by Dawn McAlexander

Smoky Mountain Opry Review ~

Singers at the Smoky Mountain Opry in Pigeon Forge Tennesseewording

If you are planning a trip to the Pigeon Forge area in Tennessee anytime soon, you simply do not want to miss checking out a show at the Smoky Mountain Opry! We went a couple of weeks ago and had tons of fun checking out the attractions and shows but I have to say that the Smoky Mountain Opry was quite possibly my favorite thing that we went to in Pigeon Forge.

I know what you are thinking – it’s all country music, right? No. If you are not a country fan, don’t worry, they have you covered, too. When Jay and I visited Pigeon Forge a couple of weeks ago, we saw a show at the opry that is best described as a variety show. There was a magician, lots of singers {performing pop hits {Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Adele and more} country songs {Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, Carrie Underwood, Charlie Daniels Band and more} and Broadway tunes {Rent, Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, Lion King and more}, dancers, aerial acrobats, comedians {Slim Chance is crazy funny, by the way} and a magician with lions and tigers! No bears, oh my! πŸ˜›

Our Thoughts On The Smoky Mountain Opry

We absolutely loved it. Jay loved when Les Miserables was performed and said that the singer’s voice was phenomenal. Slim Chance {the comedian} was also one of his favorite performances. I have to admit that I don’t care much for stand up comedians for the most part but Slim Chance was SUPER funny!

I especially enjoyed when they did the Broadway performances. I was not expecting to see anything like that and thoroughly enjoyed it. I agree with Jay about Les Miserable. Oh my gosh! That was amazing! I especially enjoyed when Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” was performed. The lady who sang that has an AWESOME voice. Also, something really cool: scenes from Titanic were displayed across her dress as she sang! LOVED THIS! I also really enjoyed the aerial acrobats and all of the tributes to the classic country artists. Of course. πŸ™‚

There is nothing that either of us could think of that wasn’t good. The entire show is great, with excellent choreography and very talented performers. There were really so many types of performances in the show, as well as so many performers, that I am sure that I am leaving someone out.

Wow – it appears there really IS something for everybody to love. I have wanted to visit for a while and my Mom REALLY wants to visit. Now that I see my kids won’t be bored beyond tears, thereby nagging me into drinking and drowning my tears in old country music, I think this might be an ideal destination for us to have an extended weekend get-away this year.

That looks like so much fun! When I lived in Myrtle Beach, the Carolina Opry was really popular here among both tourists and locals. It looks as though it’s really similar to the Smoky Mountain Opry.

I am not a fan of country music myself. So, I probably wouldn’t really appreciate it. It is very popular though.
