July Is National Ice Cream Month – What’s Your Favorite Flavor? #RockYourBlog

July 1, 2013 by Amber {contributor}

Ice cream ~

July is National Ice Cream Month. In 1984, this month long celebration was enacted by President Ronald Reagan – and boy do I plan to celebrate. And when it comes to finding a delicious place to get ice cream, there are lots of great choices. Luckily, I recently got to indulge in ice cream on a few occasions while on vacation!

My Favorite Ice Cream Comes From Cold Stone Creamery

This past week, I spent time with my aunt in Christiansburg, Va. While there, the first place we indulged in was my personal favorite, Cold Stone Creamery. Cold Stone Creamery is my personal favorite place to get this tasty treat. They offer all sorts of personalized flavors. When you first walk in, you see endless jars of things that you can get added into the ice cream such as Oreos, cookie dough, Butterfinger, Coconut,  and much more; practically anything you can think of! I decided to get the Chocolate Devotion! This chocolaty mess includes chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, brownie chunks and fudge all mixed into one ice cold mess! It is amazingly good and made my mouth tingle with the first bite!

My aunt decided to get the Cheesecake Fantasy. This devilishly good treat consists of cheesecake ice cream, graham cracker pie crust, strawberries, blueberries, and chunks of cheesecake! At first, I was hesitant to try it out because I am usually quite faithful to my chocolate craving taste buds. As it turns out, trying it was a great idea! I will more than likely be going with this flavor next time I visit Coldstone Creamery.

Another great thing about Cold Stone Creamery is that they are a very family friendly place. You get to watch behind the glass as the servers mix all the treats in with the ice cream (if you order one of their Signature Creations). Afterwards, if you tip the server, they usually get the other servers to crowd around and suddenly start singing loudly! Although they only do this on some occasions, it can be quite fun and silly to watch. The first time they sang for us, I was quite surprised and couldn’t stop giggling! Everyone in the store crowded around to watch! Long story short: I adore ice cream, especially from Cold Stone Creamery 🙂

    I love Oreo or cookie dough. But, we have a local creamy that make all kinds of crazy flavors including… BACON!

      I have heard of bacon ice cream, but I am not sure that I could get up enough nerve to try it. Have you? If so, is it good?

        No… I am not that brave. But, the creamery — Woodside Farms in Newark, Delaware — was on a national cooking show and apparently sales of their bacon ice cream shot up like crazy 🙂

    Cold Stone Creamery is really a big thing. I guess I am just an odd ball bc I am not a fan. My husband is. Perhaps I just haven’t located the right combo. Here’s to another several tries this summer. Gotta love being a mom to 7!

    I wish I could find pistachio ice cream. I rarely eat ice cream. When I do I like vanilla with some crunchy honey nut peanut butter mixed in.

    My favorite ice cream is vanilla, just love that I can eat in a cone or pour root beer over, yum! 🙂

    They say Cold Stone Creamery has good ice cream – I dont know I have never tasted it. I prefer peach ice cream the kind with real peaches in . Mack’s ice cream is a good one in our area

      I am not sure that I have tried Cold Stone Creamery either, even though my daughter has on several occasions. Speaking of peach ice cream, I really liked Hardee’s peach ice cream {though I have no idea if they still have it or not}.

    What a fun, family time! We just recently got a Cold Stone close by, but I haven’t gone yet. Ice cream is delicious…so many flavors, add ins, and things to do with it. Do you want a malt, shake, blizzard, sundae, cone, cup, sandwich….the list goes on and on. Right now, I would say chocolate almond is my favorite, but I love having the variety and eating different kinds.
