Procrastination: Are You A Procrastinator, Too? #boostyourblog

January 14, 2013 by Amber {contributor}

Procrastination ~

clock procrastination

We all have that one obstacle that we are currently trying to overcome. Whether they are small or big, they are still personal struggles. Although I am not currently trying to overcome anything life changing such as alcoholism or drug addiction, I am trying to overcome procrastination.

Procrastination

When it comes to anything that has a due date, I procrastinate horribly.

This is the cycle that I get miserably stuck in:

1) I get the task on hand such as homework, chores, or studying.
2) I get home and say that I will do the task tomorrow.
3) I keep repeating number two until eventually there is only one day left until the task is due.
4) I then hurriedly do the task either after the due date or right before.

This cycle is endless and I sadly get caught in it often. Although I usually get the work done, it is never as good as it could be. If I had started it in an appropriate time frame, it could have been my absolute best and I know that. I need to quit the procrastination so that I can progress further in life  to my highest ability.

When it comes to housework, I also procrastinate. I would be home and have all day to clean. My parents would come home at a certain time and I would end up cleaning everything an hour before they arrived. This was bad because not everything was cleaned properly. My mom would usually not be very pleased, either.

What Have I Learned From Procrastination?

I have learned that, in the end you should do it on time in the first place because in the end you will either fail or have to redo it, especially when it comes to cleaning! I hate having to re-clean the bathroom because I did not do it right the first time. Recently, I have been trying to do things on time and right the first time. So far it has been a success, but we shall see!

depends on what it is, some things I am good about taking care when I should…and then there are so teadious things I put off all long as I can…like paying bills…hate taking the time to get it done….not good :/

I actually usually get things done early, if I am on time or late, I freak out. That darn OCD does not let me rest. If I am getting close to something being due, I start not sleeping until I just break and get it done. The rest of my family is the opposite and we all drive each other crazy because of it.

Sigh. Procrastination has plagued me for the last two years although I find that I work best under pressure so maybe I procrastinate on purpose?? Either way, I don’t like waiting until the last minute to do anything b/c it’s usually not done as well {like you said}.

I am so bad at procrastinating, but due dates do keep me accountable at least. If it has a due date it will get done. If it doesn’t, I’m even worse!

I don’t procrastinate all things – but I do regularly put off the necessary stuff like laundry, dusting, cleaning. I try to reward myself when I get those things done and let myself play a while.

I am actually better than I used to be, but still need to work on it with some aspects of my life.
