No One Likes a Bully! #dramallama

March 5, 2012 by Dawn McAlexander

Rush Limbaugh = Bully ~

I don’t claim to know Rush Limbaugh, nor do I claim to ever watch his show. Political type shows don’t normally interest me that much unless it’s directly related to an election. I am neither democrat nor republican and I have voted both ways. I just vote for whomever I feel is the best candidate for the job and pray that I made a good choice.

Having said all that, I must say that just because you have a soap box to stand on doesn’t mean that you should. For anyone who hasn’t heard, Rush Limbaugh argued against a woman’s right to contraception by calling a specific woman a “prostitute” (among other things) on his show. And advertisers started dropping him like a bad habit. Thus, he issued a half hearted apology in which he stated, “I descended to [the left’s] level when I used those two words to describe Sandra Fluke.” I didn’t hear anyone on “the left” or anyone else on the right call her those names – just Limbaugh.

I am currently reading, Always Looking Up by Michael J. Fox. A few years ago Rush Limbaugh took a jab at Michael J. Fox.

Limbaugh insinuated that Michael J. Fox, either didn’t take his medication or he was acting.  For those of you who are unaware, Michael J. Fox has Parkinson’s Disease and is now one of Parkinson’s strongest advocates for research. Parkinson’s Disease is characterized by tremors, shakes, and other neurological issues. From my understanding from his book, it is a progressive illness that gets worse overtime. Rush Limbaugh issued a similar half-hearted apology to Fox for mocking him after a huge backlash from the public.

Some things that I have read have indicated that Limbaugh has an issue with stem cell research (which Fox is adamantly for). That is fine. Limbaugh can argue against it all day and Fox can argue for it all day. I am fine with that and think that everyone should have a right to their opinion. However, you don’t make fun of someone’s disabilities because you are not prepared for the scientific side of the argument. If you don’t know enough about the issue, or you don’t have enough self control to keep it civil, you need to keep quiet. Or you need to better educate yourself. You don’t go off on a middle school tangent. Limbaugh reminds me of a 6th grader on the playground who knows that the argument is not ending in his favor so he resorts to fists.

I am not exactly sure when Rush Limbaugh became a so-called expert on Parkinson’s Disease, women’s health issues, contraception, or anything else for that matter. Nor am I aware of Rush Limbaugh holding any kind of medical license, but he seems to think he knows everything there is to know about all of these medical issues.

I especially find it humorous that Limbaugh finds so much fault in others, and how he seems to police others’ drug intake, given his drug history, especially the tactlessness of it. In my opinion, he is hardly one to gauge the moral compass of others. Ye who cast stones…

This isn’t about “the left,” “the right” or anything else political (except for Rush mentioning anyone to blame but him). Furthermore, I am not sure how it would be the “left’s” or anyone else’s fault that Rush Limbaugh is a tactless jerk with no filter. Be a man and take ownership of your actions and learn from them. This is about someone who picks on people with disabilities or those who share different values from him.

This is about a bully with a pulpit, plain and simple.

I have wanted to blog about this situation since it happened, but I am still so heated over the words that he has said, that I just cannot write a well written, appropriate post for readers! I am just appalled at the things he said when he clearly is the last to speak about women’s health issues! Thank you for sharing your well written post!

I never like bullies either. When my son first went to school he was bullied and we tried to help him accept the fact that there are people like that. We supported him in any way we can…He overcome it and even friends with bullies then he was not bullied anymore…From Alexa stomp…

This guy should just quit what he said is unacceptable. People like him makes me believe that today’s society is still growing when it comes to proper mentality.

I hate bullys especially when they are adults who should know better to begin with. I dont like how the politician’s degrade and talk down about the others being voted for, that is totally wrong in my opinion. The fact that he said Michael J. Fox was faking his illness – how crude a statement. Why in the world would he do something like that. It is ridiculous . He should have apologized to Michael.{ep[;e need to stop the bullying it does alot of damage to people

That was a misquote on Rush and Fox news even played the whole clip to prove it. Don’t mess with Rush.

[…] Right after I read the section in the book about Rush Limbaugh mocking him on his radio show, Rush Limbaugh infamously called that law student who wants health coverage for birth control a prostitute (among other things).
