From the camels to the zebras and the stingrays to the flamingos, all of the animals seem to be loving on Kenny. For the past few years, we have purchased the yearly membership to Greensboro Science Center, so we have become quite accustomed to the animals there. Some of our favorites include the penguins, otters, meerkats, flamingos and Kenny in particular loves the cat varieties. I love to sit in the aquarium and watch all of the fish swim around. I find it quite relaxing and peaceful.
Extreme Flamingo Closeup
On one of our visits to the science center last year, Kenny made an unexpected friend. The zookeepers like to keep the flamingos on the end of their enclosure away from humans. However, this one feisty flamingo decided that he [honestly not sure if the flamingo was a he or a she] was going to be extra social. He walked right up to Kenny and stuck his beak in Kenny’s face and we got to see the flamingo closeup as never before.
The flamingo also seemed super interested in Kenny’s phone, so he was able to take several pictures of his new BFF. Remember, do not touch the flamingo [or any other zoo animals, for that matter] if they decide to get social. It doesn’t matter how cute the animal is or how tempting it might be, do not touch it! This is for both your safety and that of the animal. Don’t be the person that gets an animal killed because you have no impulse control. The zookeepers eventually came over to the rebel flamingo and herded him back into the group, but not before we got a rare and awesome flamingo closeup!
Caribbean Flamingos are the types of flamingos that you can see at the Greensboro Science Center. I have seen flamingos in the wild in both Bonaire and Curacao, maybe elsewhere in the Caribbean. They are gorgeous and I love how they can stand on one foot. They are far more balanced than me, that is for sure. If I remember correctly, they sleep like that. I think the zookeeper also told our group that they get their coloring from the types of food they eat. They are truly fascinating creatures and this was definitely one of our best days at the science center.
