As I told you in my West With Giraffes book review, I am participating in the 2023 Goodreads Reading Challenge. Though I am reviewing every book I read this year on Goodreads, I have no intention of reviewing all of those same books on my blog. But I will review those that particularly speak to me here. I feel like Pamela Anderson is one of those people who has been incessantly ridiculed, harassed and victimized by the press, tabloids and late night comedians, in particular. What I really love about this book is that she does not take this opportunity to throw all of these people under the bus. All of the people, mind you, who made tons of money at her expense, objectifying her and making her out to be nothing more than boobs, blonde hair and a stolen home movie.
As it turns out, Love, Pamela shows how smart and artistic she really is. This book shows the Pamela that we were not allowed to see, a layered person full of empathy and compassion for others. The parts that resonate with me most were where she talks about walking other people’s dogs, having morning coffee daily with this older gentlemen she met overseas, living in a trailer park as a celebrity and traveling to dangerous parts of the world as a humanitarian and activist. She is both an average person and an eccentric. Love, Pamela takes us beyond the highly misunderstood and vastly vilified bombshell image to the artistic, poetic and empathetic woman beneath.
Now she lives back in her hometown of Ladysmith [Canada]. After all of the crap that she has gone through in the media, what I wish for her most is peace. I hope that she can spend the rest of her days on the beach in her beloved Ladysmith. I want for her to just be able to relax in her garden, pet her sweet dogs, paint, write and spend as much time as possible with her sons. I hope she can travel and speak on PETA’s behalf and continue her activism and fundraising for charities as she desires. I wish her happiness and a man [if she wants one] who actually knows how to treat her with respect. And I hope she keeps her optimistic, loving heart.
