Family Friendly Experiences In Copenhagen For All Ages

January 6, 2020 by Dawn McAlexander

Family Friendly Experiences in Copenhagen

Denmark is one of the most beautiful countries you can visit, and its capital city, Copenhagen, is a destination for millions of tourists each year. If you are planning a trip there with your family, you will come back home with some wonderful memories. While there are plenty of things to do, when you are traveling with children, you need to filter them through so that everyone can have an excellent time. Lucky for you, Copenhagen provides fun for all ages.

Before we get into the activities you can enjoy in Copenhagen, please note that this is a city that issues cards for tourists. If you purchase one, you have access to more than 80 landmarks, and that will save you a lot of cash. Plus, it covers all public transportation. A Copenhagen Card is available online, but you can find it at any 7/11 in the city. The card can cover 24, 48, 72, or 120 hours. You can choose a timeframe depending on how much time you plan on staying in Copenhagen.

The Blue Planet Aquarium

One of the most exciting places you can visit in Copenhagen is the Den Blå Planet National Aquarium. The children will absolutely love it. They have exhibits from different parts of the world, and the marine life is outstanding. What you will love is the fact that you can visit different parts of the aquatic world one by one. There are a Coral Reef exhibition, fish and other animals from the Ocean, the rain forest, and many more. Your kids will have the chance to touch manta rays if they so wish, and even snakes. Plus, they can learn a lot because every exhibition has a touch screen with information regarding the animals that are on display. The entrance fee is covered by the Copenhagen Card.

Tivoli Gardens

You cannot go to Copenhagen and not enter the Tivoli Gardens. Please keep in mind that while the entrance fee is covered by the Copenhagen Card, the activities inside are not. The park is enormous, and you will find fun activities for all ages there. Depending on the time of year, the park is beautifully decorated. There are several fun rides, excellent street food, and whatever else you can think of when it comes to amusement parks. It is effortless to locate. It is situated right over across the street from the Copenhagen Train Station.

Take a boat ride with a tour guide

Copenhagen is located on multiple islands that are separated by canals. There are several guided tours you can join, and some of them are covered by the Copenhagen Card. You and your children can learn a lot about the history of Copenhagen, see a lot of palaces along the way, and learn the real story of the little mermaid while looking at its statue. It may be a bit too much for children because the story is a lot sadder than what Disney made it be, but the tour guide manages to tell it right. Just remember to keep your children on their seats when going under the bridges over the canals because the space is really tight. So tight that if you do not duck, you may touch the bridge with the top of your head. Not all of them, of course, but most. Other than that, such a boat ride can be really fun and informative at the same time.

It is also worth mentioning that the guide will give the tour in both Danish and English.

The list can go on and on, and if you do a simple search, you will find plenty more family-friendly activities to do in Copenhagen. We just believe that the ones mentioned above are the most popular. Also, do not forget that depending on where you come from, a visa is required. Of course, that is not necessary for all European Union citizens and visa-exempt nationalities outside Europe. A passport may suffice. EU citizens only need an ID card.

There are many countries that you can visit with only a passport. But to visit exotic and beautiful destinations like Cuba and Japan, you will need to get a visa. Be sure to check with each country for their specific requirements before you travel.
