St Francis Inn To Host 6th Annual Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain Seminar

Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain is once again coming to the St. Francis Inn ~ for the 6th consecutive year September 11-15, 2017. Each 5-day seminar includes hands-on drawing, painting, enhancing your creativity and how to see the world in new ways. The personalized workshops are conducted at numerous locations in the United States and abroad ~ choosing the award-winning St. Francis Inn as its recommended accommodation in St. Augustine.

Quoting Richard Bergland, eminent scientist and neurosurgeon “You have two brains; a left and a right. Modern brain scientists know that your left brain is your verbal and rational brain; it thinks serially and reduces its thoughts to numbers, letter and words. Your right brain is your nonverbal and intuitive brain; it thinks in patterns, or pictures, composed of ‘whole things’ and does not comprehend reductions, either numbers, letters or words.”

Betty Edwards researched, wrote and published her first book in 1979 which has remained the preeminent book on its subject. Used as a standard text in many art schools around the world, her seminars continue to offer groundbreaking theories about how to teach drawing successfully.

About Brian Bomeisler

After lecturing and teaching for nearly thirty years, Betty Edwards’ son Brian Bomeisler has taken the reigns and now conducts the popularly recognized drawing and painting seminars globally, teaching students to draw in five days. A recipient of a Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, his paintings are in museum collections (including the Museum of Contempoary Art San Diego and The Hyde Collection, New York) as well as in corporate and private collections around the world.

Testimonials From Past Workshop Attendees

*Thank you for your deep and rich insight into the process of art production. It has expanded my abilities in one week.

*I find myself still astounded, 3 days later, by the entire experience. My ability to draw a self-portrait was transformed. As each day went by, I gained more drawing skill and my observations of lines, shapes and space was more acute.

*I cannot recall an educational experience that taught me so much in such a short period of time. It was an enjoyable, positive and reinforcing atmosphere for all of us in the group.

*Your seminar opened by mind and eyes to ‘see the world’ in a completely new way. I gained the skill to draw, which helps train your brain to slow down and absorb what’s really there, not what you think is there.

*I appreciate your excellent teaching skills and endless patience especially your quiet, unassuming and highly organized way of presenting the material.
