Things To Consider Before Selecting A Bathroom Shower

Things To Consider Before Selecting A Bathroom Shower #sponsored

This post was written in partnership with Decoraport. All thoughts are my own.

At present, shower rooms are not a negligible part of any house. They have become a vital part of the interior design. Moreover, a beautiful shower room can improve your mood and give you an amazing shower experience. Many components make up a beautiful and comfortable shower. Therefore, while selecting items for your shower room, you have to consider some facts. You have to think about each component individually. In this article, I will be talking about the factors that you need to consider while selecting a bathroom shower.

Things To Consider Before Selecting A Bathroom Shower: Types of Showers

First of all, let’s have a look at the types of showers. Here, I will discuss their features. As a result, it will be easier for you to decide which one to choose.

Stand Alone Shower Enclosures
A stand alone shower enclosure is usually placed into a corner. This type of shower structure helps to prevent the water from spreading out. Therefore, it should contain water tight enclosing walls. Moreover, it should contain a draining way so that the shower room does not become flooded. The glass doors make the stand alone shower enclosures look elegant. Also, you may include one or more shower heads. You may also include a seat here for your comfort. This type of shower is also great as a space saver.

Shower Tub With Shower Stalls
Here, I am not talking about them separately. This is a tub that also includes a shower. In this case, the shower head is hung on top of the wall of the shower tub. In general, it is placed in the corner or on the side. Moreover, it is suitable for the people who do not have sufficient space for separate tubs and showers. Hence, it serves multiple purposes. So, you should consider this type of tub seriously based on the desired size of your shower.

Walk-in Shower Rooms
Walk-in Shower Rooms are larger than the other two types of showers that we have discussed. We call them walk-in showers as they do not necessarily contain any doors. So, you just walk in and have your shower. These types of showers may have glass blocks or small walls sufficient to prevent shower water from escaping. Such shower rooms have many more design options than that of other showers. Hence, if you are aestheticly minded, you may consider this type of shower.

Design Of The Shower

After selecting the right type of shower that satisfies your requirements, you have to consider the design of the components that make up the shower. Let’s have a look at them:

*The door is the first component that needs consideration and there are many varieties to choose from. Rounded doors are suitable for enclosed showers. Also, they save space. Sliding doors are also suitable for corner showers as they will take up less space. You can open the door by sliding either to the right or left-hand side and they can be either framed or frameless. Plus, frameless doors are easy to clean. Furthermore, you should avoid wooden doors in the shower rooms unless they are designed specifically for bathrooms as the longevity of wood can reduce when it comes in close proximity to water.

*Shower heads are one of the most vital parts of any bathroom. You can include single or multiple shower heads. At present, rain shower heads are becoming quite popular. They are suitable for a wall-mounted fixture. Personally, I love a rain shower head and will definitely be considering
getting one on my next bathroom renovation. The Moen S6320 which has earned top accolades from KitchenGuyd is the one I have got my eyes on. However, rain shower heads are not really suitable for corner showers {use single shower heads here} but are perfect for walk-in showers. Shower heads can be made of copper, silver, bronze, or even gold.

Things To Consider Before Selecting A Bathroom Shower

*The decoration of the shower is crucial and you can decorate your shower rooms in various ways. The type of decorations you choose in your shower will reflect your choice and personality. Therefore, you need to take this aspect seriously. After selecting the type of door, you have to select the design of the door. If privacy matters less, you should go for the transparent doors as it will help to make the bathroom lighter and appear larger. However, if you are looking for privacy, choose the frosted or pebbled glass doors. In decorating the walls, there are various options. You may go for the bamboo boards, tiles, rocks, and stones. Why not consider a combination of them. Be sure to keep luxurious coconut body scrubs on hand as well.

*Finally, you have to keep in mind the budget. Many people become too concerned in budgeting for the showers but a quality shower room and design are worth the investment. We have to bath daily so why not make it the best experience possible. If you shop carefully, you can have an exotic and beautiful shower room for a lower budget than you might expect.

It can be really difficult to make final decisions about your bathroom design. You might even want to consult with an interior designer before choosing the type of shower and design as it can really help you decide what is realistic for you. Be sure to share your budget with them so they can find what best suits your needs.

We’ve been talking about a bathroom redo, and the biggest part of that is actually going to be the shower. Thanks for this info. We need to replace ours in the WORST way.

I currently live in an apt and the bathroom is VERY neglected! I’d love to have a more up to date shower in there, but as it’s an apt house in a small town, I doubt the owner would find that a very wise decision. I will admit, I took my money and purchased a new shower head. The old one just was not cutting it! Thanks for sharing!

Our master bath has separate glass shower and garden tub. I would love one of those showers that has jets coming from all over the place. I can’t imagine how wonderful that would be.

We are considering tearing out our bathtub in our master bath and replacing it with a large tiled shower area. The bathroom is tiny, and since we do not take baths, we believe that a large shower with glass doors will definitely make the room look more spacious.

Thank you for a good and informative article.

Great post and thorough. You don’t really think about it, but showers are personal and can be designed differently. You need to think about your space, likes, money, and even health. We have a tub/shower combo in the main bathroom, but it can’t be used by all due to the stepping in feature. I am going shower head shopping this week so thanks for the thoughts on a rain shower.
