Have you seen Creative Galaxy yet? It’s a really cute kid’s show from the people behind Blue’s Clues. As a child, my daughter just loved Blue’s Clues so, naturally, this show is really cute, too. Creative Galaxy is on is an Amazon Original Kids series and the 2nd season starts tomorrow, September 16th. In honor of the new season, we are sharing with you a cute and easy DIY Flower Headband tutorial inspired by Creative Galaxy.

DIY Flower Headband Tutorial

To make your flower headband, you will need…

Several Fuzzy Sticks {aka pipe cleaners} in your choice of colors
Several Tissue Papers in your choice of colors
Headband

I chose pink pipe cleaners to cover the headband and all of the colors in the bag for the flower. But feel free to be as creative and as colorful as you like. ๐Ÿ™‚

First you will need to fold the tissue papers in half twice {or in fourths}. Then stack the colors on top of each other and cut along all the edges so that you have several different pieces of each color.

Put the pieces you cut off to the side. You can use these if you want or you can throw them away. I did not use them for my diy flower headband.

Next, take a pipe cleaner and bend it in half. Wrap it around the headband and then continue with more pipe cleaners until you have covered all or almost all of the headband. Be sure to be carfeul as pipe cleaners can be a little sharp on the ends.

Pick up all of the papers that you cut earlier and put them over your finger just like they do in Creative Galaxy episode, “Annie’s Flowers.” Wrap a pipe cleaner around the part at the tip of your finger and twist it.

Finally, wrap the pipe cleaner that is securing your flower around the headband just like you did with the other pipe cleaners. Carefully fluff and crinkle the pipe cleaner and you are done. Voila!

Watch Creative Galaxy On Amazon Video

Creative Galaxy, from Out of the Blue Enterprises (Super Why!, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood), is a “make-along, create-along” animated art adventure series that celebrates creative thinking through crafts, story, music, and dance. Creative Galaxy follows the adventures of Arty and his silly side-kick Epiphany, as they travel around the galaxy to solve problems using many different forms of art. Each episode highlights a unique creative medium (painting, music, sculpting, cooking, etc.) to reinforce to kids that art is all around us in many different forms. The interactive stories and live action segments encourage young viewers at home to get excited about their own creative ideas and the process of using creative arts to solve problems!

Tomorrow, September 16th, Creative Galaxy is kicking off it’s second season. This season will feature 11 brand new episodes full of awesome crafts to keep your little ones’ creative juices flowing. Special guests this season include Brooke Shields, Jason Priestly, Samantha Bee, Lisa Loeb, Donovan Patton, Cloris Leachman and more.

Always love a good headpiece! I remember our daughter and I making a floppy hat by placing layers of tissue paper over a bowl and using watered down glue to paint on each layer that went over the bowl (not the part that was the floppy part) and then letting it dry. Take it off the bowl and put it on your head! We decorated ours with flowers!
