School Lunches On A Budget #ad #PacknSnap #savealotinsiders

August 27, 2016 by Dawn McAlexander

Back To School Lunches On A Budget #PacknSnap #savealotinsiders

Did you know that you can pack nutritious school lunches for your child that are both nutritious and budget friendly? With savings of up to 40% as compared to conventional grocery stores, Save-A-Lot is a perfect place to stock up on fresh products to fill your child’s lunch bag with health conscious choices. They offer fresh cut meat in-store everyday, quality fresh produce, and they even have their own line of exclusive brands at everyday low prices.

Back To School Lunches On A Budget

I shop at the Save-A-Lot in Mount Airy, NC. I love this location because the people are always friendly and helpful. There is also a great selection of items to choose from. You might think that a budget grocery store would have very little to choose from. And you would be wrong. Not many stores around here offer fresh papaya, but Save-A-Lot does. And this girl loves papaya.

Back To School Lunches On A Budget #PacknSnap #savealotinsiders

Not only does Save-A-Lot offer fresh papaya, but they offer a huge assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables. I like to pack school lunches bento style in pretty and colorful containers. Aren’t things just more fun when they are colorful? I like to even color coordinate the containers with the fruit or vegetable inside. This would be a fun and educational way to let your child help pack their own lunch, too. You can use different color grapes, cantaloupe, strawberries, watermelon, carrots and plums like we did in the pictures.

These school lunch ideas with veggies and fruits would be perfect for a vegetarian. Alternatively, you could add some chicken nuggets cut up in pieces to the salad for those that are not vegetarian. Save-A-Lot has a great 5 for $20 deal on a variety of foods that we often buy. That’s how we buy our chicken nuggets {you can get them spicy, yum! or not if you don’t like spicy}, potato wedges and other meats we put in the freezer.

Great post. Making sure your kids eat healthy, rather than eating those starchy school lunches that are often served, is so much easier if you pack them freshly prepared good-for-you food from home. My go-tos for my own 4 when they were little were string cheese and fresh fruit and veggies.
