It’s summer and you know what that means: travel. So far, Amber has gone to the beach and I have been to New York City. Poor Jay isn’t getting left out, though. He and I are headed to Panama City Beach, Florida in September. We also have a few more trips planned for the rest of the year including the SoFabU On The Road blogger conference in Atlanta, a hotel review on an island in Georgia and a cruise at the end of the year. So, yeah, we love to travel and do it often. Thus, for our fellow travel lovers, we have put together some easy road trip snack recipes that we think you will enjoy.
Easy Road Trip Food Ideas
Cheese & Crackers – We like to buy the pre-cut cheese slices at the store and the packs of crackers that look like little toast that you can find in the deli section. Why? Because it looks all fancy and stuff. There is no need for your road trip to be “cheap” if you don’t want it to be. 🙂
Fruit Balls – Use a melon baller and shape your favorite fruit into balls. Put the fruit into a cup with a lid and put it in a cooler. Then you have something that is cute, easy to handle and a refreshing treat in the heat of the summer.
Peanut Butter & Jelly Twizzlers Twists – Twizzlers Twists don’t melt! So when you are in a hot car {or at a hot beach} Twizzlers Twists make a great snack choice. Grab some strawberry Twizzlers Twists and dip them in peanut butter for a quick PB&J that kids {and kids at heart} are sure to love.
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Twizzlers Twists – For the folks of more discriminating tastes, let us offer Chocolate Covered Strawberry Twizzlers Twists . Banana Split Twizzlers Twists – If you are feeling really adventurous, peel a banana and cut it into small chunks. Stick the Bite Size Cherry Twizzlers Twists in the middle of the chunks and cover in your favorite chocolate sauce. Enjoy.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Milk – Pick up a chocolate milk at a convenient station and use a strawberry Twizzlers Twists for a straw. If you leave it in there a few minutes it gets more strawberry flavored. This one is just too fun.
*You can use toothpicks for the Twizzlers Twists treats if you would like to keep a little neater, just be careful of the sharp points.
Why We Love These Road Trip Snack Ideas
We like to stop at rest areas as we enter states so that we can get pictures of the state signs when possible. So, a cooler packed with goodies is perfect for snacking. A lot of state rest areas have picnic tables or nice seating areas inside, too, if you don’t want to sit in your car. Also, these types of snacks are quick and don’t cut into much of your time if you are watching the clock.

Blueberries and grapes are our favorite snacks on roadtrips! We are never fan of twizzlers though.
Fruit is always great on a road trip. And, of course, a little candy. Especially Twizzlers.
Any time I want to make my husband happy, all I have to do is buy him some Twizzlers. We ALWAYS have a big bag in the car when we hit the road!
Mmm now I really want to buy some Twizzlers. I always forget how much I like them till I start eating one and then I can’t stop!

It’s a great idea to stock up on snacks for a long road trip! You never know when you might get hungry a hundred miles away from the closest place to eat!
That is an excellent point. When we went to Cincinnati earlier this year, we had to drive through West Va. I tell you what, that state seems to go on forever and ever with no rest areas or exits, lol.

I do love Twizzlers but I can’t say I would dip them into peanut butter. I usually bring graham crackers for our peanut butter or Nutella.

I love Twizzlers. I had no idea that they had other flavors. I always pick up the red. I’m going to check it out next shopping trip. I haven’t had licorice in a while and now I’m hungry for some.

I’m a big fan of twizzlers, but we haven’t been able to have them as much since our son was diagnosed with Celiacs. Sadly they aren’t gluten free.
road trip is fun.. my kids love traveling and road trip is a way to go because its cheaper for family of 4. We love snacking during our road trip.
