21 St Patrick’s Day Ideas For Teens

February 10, 2015 by Dawn McAlexander

Are you looking for St Patricks Day Ideas for teens? If so, here is a list of 21 age appropriate ideas to make your St Patricks Day special.

St Patrick’s Day is coming and so is the influx of green beer and bar runs. That’s good and all, but what about the teens? They need something to do, too. So, instead of the usual St Patrick’s Day ideas targeted for adults, my daughter and I have come up with a list of fun things for teens to do this St Patty’s Day. Don’t worry. We know most teens don’t have a lot of cash, so most are very budget friendly, too.

21 St Patricks Day Ideas For Teens

Watch A Creepy St Patricks Day Movie: Gather up some of your friends and turn St Patricks Day into a scary event. Love Jennifer Aniston? Get creeped out watching her in Leprechaun. Or if you prefer something less scary, you could watch Leap Year {starring Amy Adams} or Luck Of The Irish {Disney Channel}.

Have A Basement Party: Gather all your friends together and have a green party. Replace your light bulbs with green colored bulbs or blow up a ton of green and gold balloons and hang coordinating streamers.

Don’t Forget The Green Food: You could serve green food at your party or make it for yourself and just a friend or two. Make vanilla cupcakes but add green food coloring to the mix or to the icing. You can even add it to both if you like. You could also serve green punch. And don’t forget the green M&Ms. After all, they are the best.

Be Green For The Day: St Patricks Day is all about green. So why not do something green, like clean up your favorite park. You could also take some items to the recycling station or sell some of your old stuff online instead of throwing it in the trash. That way you can make some green while being green. 😉

Go To A Sporting Event: Go find a local team with green uniforms and root for them. Oh, and don’t forget to wear green yourself.

Go To A Concert: If you and your friends love music {um, who doesn’t}, perhaps a concert would be the perfect night for you. But don’t forget to buy some of the green glow sticks and glow bracelets from your local dollar store. Don’t have enough “green” to go out? Watch a concert with your friends on Netflix, Hulu Plus or Amazon Prime. Just do a search for artists you love and see what you can find. And don’t forget your green food.

Green Brunch: Fancy green eggs and ham? A little food coloring in some eggs and milk can go a long way.

Paint A Leprechaun: Go to Walmart and pick up some canvases, paints and brushes. Then you and your friends can see who can paint the best leprechaun, rainbow, field of clover or pot of gold.

Bake Something: Why not make cookies or a cake? There are tons of cool ideas on Pinterest for St Patricks Day baked goods. You could whip up a batch of green cookies or make a cake with gold foiled candies spilling out. The possibilities are as big as your imagination.

Visit A Game Room: Make sure you save up your game tickets to get some silly, gaudy St Patricks Day jewelry.

Play Hide The Leprechaun: It’s like Elf On A Shelf, but better. Make your friends cover their eyes while you hide a stuffed leprechaun in another room. Then tell them to find it. The first one to find it is “it” and hides it next, and so on….

Dye Something: Use green dye and upcycle something that you are no longer using. Perhaps you have a shirt that is faded. You could bring it back to life with some dye and TLC. You could use several shades of green to make a really cool shirt, curtains or set of sheets.

Go To A Coffee Shop: Be sure to order a green drink. Most should have something that is green on the menu. If not, ask.

Go To A Teen Club: Many teen clubs will have green themes on St Patricks Day. If not, you and your friends can wear green and be trendsetters.

Make Smoothies: Many smoothies are green, especially some of the really healthy ones. You and your friends could look up some recipes online for green smoothies and try a few.

Go To A School Dance: Many schools will have St Patricks Day dances. Be sure to wear green clothes and green glow bracelets.

Paint Your Nails Green: Ladies, why not have a mani pedi party for you and your friends? You can paint your nails green, or use gold glitter, or even practice your art skills and paint rainbows, leprechauns, four leaf clovers, etc., on your nails for St Patricks Day.

Host A St Patricks Day Bingo Game: You and your friends can print off St Patricks Day BINGO cards online and play at home. Be sure to have snacks and drinks ready.

Do Some Social Good: You could always go visit people in nursing homes. We have done this before and most people love getting visitors. Who knows? Some of the ladies might even want their nails painted green.

Get A Tattoo – A fake one, that is. You and your friends can get a book of leprechaun and other St Patricks Day themed tattoos and apply them while you watch movies. Added bonus: Show your parents and watch them freak.

Check For Themed Nights At Restaurants – Some restaurants have themed St Patricks nights. You might even get a free drink or appetizer if you wear green.

Great ideas! I’m going to have to watch the movies you suggested. It’s been awhile since I’ve see them and Patty’s day is a great incentive!

Great ideas! We watch Leprechaun also. My daughter loves St. Patrick’s Day. She dresses in green for a week I think. I’m glad under green food it was salad and broccoli, while some kids do love – my daughter included – it isn’t the celebration fun of green cupcakes.

These are wonderful ideas especially the sixth one of going to a concert. As you said above, who doesn’t love music 🙂 . Awesome post.
