Adventures In Roatan, Honduras: Iguana Pictures

February 4, 2015 by Dawn McAlexander

Iguana Pictures: Caribbean Cruise adventures at our Roatan, Honduras port of call

On our recent Caribbean Cruise, we took a ton of iguana pictures at Arch’s Iguana and Marine Park, which we visited while at our Roatan, Honduras port of call. Iguanas roam freely around this park as well as many species of birds. We were surprised to see that they all seemed to get along with each other. The iguanas, especially, were very friendly and let us pet and feed them.

All photography was taken at Arch’s Iguana And Marine Park with our new Nikon D3200 DSLR camera on a rainy, overcast day, and have not been altered in any way {except for the watermark}. We are pretty inexperienced at using this camera, which is our first DSLR. If you would like to offer any constructive criticism that could help us take better pictures on our next Caribbean adventure, it would be great appreciated. πŸ™‚

I love your beautiful photos. It’s so amazing to look at iguanas. My son wants one for a pet, but we don’t exactly live in the climate for one.

Thank you so much. I had a few closeup pictures of the monkeys that were blurry, but I think I figured that out. Hopefully. πŸ™‚

I am not a pro photographer either! The pictures look great overall to me. I always like “brightening” my darker shots with pic monkey just to turn it up a little bit but I don’t edit my photos too much either!

That’s a great idea. I will probably brighten these up a bit when I add them to my picture album. πŸ™‚

Not sure my kids would want to visit! They are both a little too young to have any desire to visit β€œexotic” animals. If it is not a dog, they want nothing to do with it. But you have great pictures!

Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE IGUANAS! I actually had two pet ones and used to let them walk around the house. He was as long as the couch! I loved him so much!

I know! It was crazy! Our tour guide was like, “Look up in the tree.” I never would have thought I would have seen them up in the trees and on roofs.

I’m surprised to see other former iguana owners. I had one for a couple of years in high school that I loved, but the pet store I got him from was totally ignorant of how to care for him. Stupid me listened to them and fed him crickets and baby mice and he got sick and died from a calcium deficiency. Turns out they like leafy greens, broccoli and ice cream.

Oh poor thing. Yeah, I think a lot of times pet stores are more concerned about selling the animal than what happens to it after. Because of this, we adopt/rescue all of our animals, including that iguana. πŸ™‚
