This post brought to you by Gro-ables. All opinions are 100% mine.
Hi, my name is Dawn, and I have a black thumb.
Ok, not really {except that one time I smashed it with a hammer *youch*), but I sure don’t have a green thumb. I bought a palm tree from a local home improvement place – dead within 2 weeks. Various houseplants – dead. However, I had one of those spider plants and an ivy that held on longer, until they finally met their maker, too. Should I give up? The folks at Miracle-Gro don’t think so.
Scott’s Gro-ables – Helping Newbie Gardeners Find Their Green Thumb
Aside from murdering plants, in my spare time I like to can food. I make a mean salsa. And by mean, I mean “burn the skin off your tongue and make you cry for your mama” mean. This salsa isn’t for the faint of heart. I generally go buy the ingredients that I need for it at the local farmer’s market but I really want to grow the veggies and make it myself – the entire process.
Scott’s Gro-ables is a brand new product from Miracle-Gro – a pre-packaged seed pod that makes it incredibly easy to grow your own herbs and veggies from seed, even if you don’t have a green thumb. It’s designed children, or people who are new to gardening but have always wanted to try growing their own food. See, the easier the process is for a beginner, the more likely they are to enjoy it. Baby steps. These pods can be easily grown in your home or apartment for your later consumption.
So, I am hoping that Scott’s Gro-ables can help even me.

Scott’s Gro-ables: Helping Black Thumbs Keep Plants Alive Since 2014
Scott’s Gro-ables are a new product from Miracle-Gro. They are especially intended for children and those that are new to gardening like me. Scott’s Gro-ables are guaranteed to grow when you use them as directed – so everyone can have a green thumb! That is exactly what I need – clear directions. I am just not familiar enough with plants to look at them and know what they need, as some people are. But, I really want to have a green thumb. So, I am really excited that I will be getting to try a few of these packs out in the coming weeks and telling you guys about my results!

Scott’s Gro-ables are also really affordable. At only $1.29 – $1.49 per seed pod – depending on market – you can afford to buy several of these to try out for yourself. So, here’s to having a green thumb and making my own salsa – from scratch! Wish me luck!

I need this. Need. I also have a black thumb. I kill everything. I want to plant a garden at our new rental and I need all the help I can get!
It is like K-cups for plants!! GENIUS! I just started a bunch of seeds under the grow lights downstairs. I need to find these in the store for my ten year old! He loves to plant his own little garden each year, and this would be perfect for him.
Hahaha! I hadn’t thought about that! Kcups for plants! Awesome!
Haha, so you are saying these were made specifically for me? Because I have the worst black thumb ever.
this might be just what i need to finally try my hand at gardening. can you use it indoors also?
What a brilliant idea! I am horrible at keeping plants alive, but I’d love to grow my own veggies. Will definitely be checking these out!
These are the coolest. I need these this spring. I’m going to get out into my garden and front flower beds and really make it pretty again.
THAT is cool. we do a lot of gardening but this sure would be fun for the kids to plant. they each have their own raised bed within our big garden
My kids would love these! They seemed to have inherited my black thumb, but I keep hoping I can help them be better.
First of all, my husband would LOVE to try your salsa. He always asks for the hottest they offer when we try out a new Mexican restaurant! We have also discussed growing our own foods, but my thumb is dark black too!
The secret is to leave the jalapeno seeds in. Every recipe I have ever seen says to take them out. Nah, removing the seeds is for wimps, lol. Go hard or go home. 😛
I would be a good test subject on this because I can not grow nor keep any plant alive. ever.
I recognized Bridget from America’s Test Kitchen in the video clip even before I hit play. Love that show, they picked a great person to have promote their products! 🙂
Also, LOVE this idea. We do a garden twice a year but it’s not often my husband does herbs. I’d love to have fresh herbs, and these I can do on my own. Stoked to find these!
I don’t have a green thumb at all. So these Scott’s Gro-ables look like a good option for me.
YES! I love this, it’s exactly what I need to start a garden.
I’ve never been one to have a green thumb but I have been trying to spruce up our front yard lately. I would love to be able to grow our own fresh veggies!
I wonder if these would grow in the desert? I have such a black thumb though.
I could kill a plant that could make it through the harsh environments of the desert. Does that count? 😉
This might even make me able to grow something. Talk about making it easy!
I have to check these out. I don’t have a green thumb either. I do mehh, okay but still there is much for me to learn in the gardening department. It just doesn’t come natural.
i may actually have to try these this year. i think i could actually grow some veggies. thanks for sharing.
I wish I had a green thumb. I have dreams of having a garden one day though.
I so do not a have a green thumb– I really need this! Everything that I try to plant, dies!
I’ve never seen these before, but they are genius! I already grow a ton of herbs – it would be great to add peppers to my garden this year!
My green thumb is more like a dirty brown color. I need all the help I can get. Thanks for sharing!
I plan on using these this year to see if I can grow cilantro better. I can’t ever get that stuff to grow!!
I love that they have simplified everything for you. What a neat idea!
I need some gardening help! This might be worthwhile for me to try. Thanks!
I so am going to try these out this year, I keep reading all the reviews on them and man I want to give it a whirl.
I would love to be able to grow things. Unfortunately, I seem to kill everything. lol
Haha! I know how you feel on that one. 🙂
Oh nice!! Yes, I think a lot of people will be growing gardens this way. I think I def would!
I have the WORST green thumb. I bet this would be helpful though.
This would be such a helpful starter garden! I’m not the best at gardening, so I could use all the help I can get!
Keep us posted on how it turns out. I garden but I use other Scott’s products. They are quite good. 😉
We do, too. We love Scott’s products. I will actually be doing another post about this product in a month-ish to let you know how my plants are turning out. 🙂
I’m going to keep an eye out for these. My boyfriend and I are hoping to start a tiny balcony garden this spring!
Oh that sounds like a lot of fun! Good luck. 🙂
These look so cool! I’ve always wanted to try pods in my garden.
I need to use this to find my green thumb. Pretty sure mine is black. haha
These look like so much fun. I like that it makes gardening easier.
Your salsa intrigues me…yum. Homegrown veggies are the best, but I’m with you in the black thumb department. I glad that Scott’s realizes that many of us aren’t gardeners and have come up with products to help.
This is so exciting for me! There may be hope after all! I can’t wait to find some herbs to grow this year.
I’ve never seen these before. My husband is actually the one with the green thumb but I do help him plant the garden each year. These look really convenient, I’ll have to check em out this year. I’m always up for anything that will make life easier!
These are so neat and handy. I would like to try gardening with some.
I am curious abut this product. I have always loved Miracle-Gro products. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the review! This looks interesting, and I will have to try at least one at that price!
Hmmm…. I dunno if I could keep up with it. I think is still kill the pants. How’d you do? Anything still alive?
