Are you freaked out by bugs, spiders, and other creepy crawlers? I know that there is a place for every creature in the world and that they all serve their purpose. However, a spider’s place is not in my home. We take extra care to make sure that we keep bugs and arachnids at bay? Why? One time I was bitten by a brown recluse.

My Worst #BugOut Moment: I Was Bitten By A Brown Recluse

A brown recluse is a nasty spider that’s bite can lead to necrosis of the tissue, among other things, if left untreated. Fortunately, I found out shortly after it bit me {no, I did not feel it bite me} because I noticed a painful, itchy spot on my stomach one day while at work. I went to the bathroom to take a closer look and there was the black raised spot, about the size of a dime, with a large red circle around it.

I went to see the doctor {within a few hours of the bite} and I had to get a Tetanis shot, take antibiotics and put some sort of cream on the bite. It cleared up within a couple weeks, and there isn’t even a scar. Some people who suffer brown recluse bites don’t end up as lucky, however, so it’s important to avoid these bites if at all possible.

How To Avoid Spider Bites

One way to avoid spider bites is to hire a professional to come into your home and treat it for bugs. Orkin has a team of scientists that have been studying bugs for 100 years.     I’m so scared of spiders! We have black widows outside and they scare the crap out of me! Every time I have even the smallest bite, I’m waiting for it to get crazy. It never does but I’m just paranoid about them.

      Oh me too! We have some gigantic spiders outside {or at least they seem gigantic to me}. I think they are orb weavers or something like that, as well as some house spiders. I think both are harmless, but they still freak me out!

    My daughter was bit by a brown recluse when she was 4. It was HORRIBLE!!
    My worst bug bite was from a velvet ant (aka, a wingless wasp aka, a cow killer) omg, it hurt so bad!!

      I have never heard of a velvet ant! Gosh, I will try to remember to read up on those. How did your little one do after the bite?

    This is so scary to me, I freaked when I saw the pix ! OMG, I’d rather face 3 psycopaths with machine guns than one of these! I got bit by a water spider once – omg. And for 12 years I lived in Vegas, we had tarantulas and scorpions. Freaks me OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      I owned a couple of tarantulas when I was in my late teens/early twenties. I was the only one who would pick one of them up. No one would pick the other up at all, it was mean, lol. I seriously doubt I would have any now.

    i ws bitten at 12 by blakc widow and al msot lost my arm to it
    then i got brown relcue recently and then i all had
    tick fever and then i have gotten bite by a rattle and copper head but i am still hanging around and then
    i do have alot of pain in the rm and then my r arm damaged
