My family has a tradition of going to the Festival of Lights every winter. Though we all love the lights, the highlight of the event is definitely the bonfire. We all roast marshmallows and drink Russian Tea.ย My husband adores Russian Tea, so we decided to make some for ourselves from a family recipe. This recipe is for instant mix. You just make a bunch and put it in an air-tight container and drink it a cup at a time, as you like. This way, everyone can make their cup to their taste preference.
How To Make Russian Tea Mix
You will need…
1 (1 lb. 2 oz.) jar Tang {be careful, we could only find it in 1lb. 4 oz. containers recently}
3/4 cup instant tea with lemon
1 1/2 cups sugar {or add more – according to taste}
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
Note: We doubled this recipe for the container shown.
Add all of the ingredients to your air-tight container, one at a time.
We picked this container up at Walmart for around $7. When the handle is up, it is not sealed.
When the handle is down, it is vacuum sealed.
Now, shake up the ingredients until mixed thoroughly.
Russian Tea is great with anything pumpkin flavored!
Russian tea is great with anything pumpkin flavored. We picked up this pumpkin roll at Walmart for $5.88. Add 1-4 tsps of Russian Tea Mix to your favorite mug filled with boiling water. The Keurig works great for this. We just run some water through it, add our Russian Tea mix and enjoy!

My mom used to make a similar Russian tea mix, but we drank it as iced tea and I loved it ๐
Oh, I need to try it over ice! That sounds good!

and yes that pumpkin roll looks even yummier
Looks like a perfect fall desert!
We aren’t tea drinkers, but I love your wonderful family tradition. It’s so nice to have something your family can do together. That pumpkin roll looks delicious too!
This sounds interesting. I’m not sure if we would like it but it’s worth a shot! It sounds easy enough!
It is really easy. I am not sure that I had heard of it before I met my husband but he LOVES it!

I love Russian Tea. One thing that we did different was to not add spices but use Red Hot candies instead! They melt in the hot water and give the drink a delicious cinnamon taste! If memory serves me right, my mom would put in about 3/4 cup to the mixture. She always made a ton and gave it away.
Oooh, I should try that sometime. ๐ Thanks for the tip!

The tea sounds great….but it’s that pumpkin roll that has me breathing heavily! Yeah!
Lol! We got that from Walmart, so go grab one! It is very good. ๐
I’ve never heard of Russian tea, but it sounds really good, perfect for the holidays. I drink hot tea all the time and I’m going to try this. I have all the ingredients but Tang, so I’ll look for some on my next grocery tip.
I don’t remember ever trying this until my husband introduced it to me. It is so good, though. You must try it!
The pumpkin roll looks delicious. I bet the tea goes great with it. I never would have thought about tang in tea but I like the idea of an orangey cinnamon ginger mix. Drink up!
Thanks so much for the recipe. I’ve had this various places but, never had the recipe. I love it.
I had never seen this recipe before for this tea. Will have to try it love the pumpkin roll too.
I have never seen a Russian Tea Mix Recipe before. I think I would start with about 1/4 of this to try and share to see if I could use it without the sugar. Thanks
I am sure that you could substitute Splenda or Truvia or something, too, if you prefer.
Sounds really interesting. I don’t think I have every tried Russian Tea before I will have to see if I can find ingredients for a single serving so I can give it a try.
My husband loves it. I wasn’t sure that I ever heard of it before I met him but I have to admit that it is pretty good. ๐
Interesting. I love tea. Not sure about Tang and tea…but hey, sounds like a lot of people like it, so who I am I to questoin it ๐ the pumpkin cake roll looks fabulous.
