While on my culinary media tour last week, I noticed a name on the itinerary that I recognized: Tony Gore. Many of you know that I worked in radio before becoming a blogger. Most of that time was spent at a Country Station, but I also worked some at a Southern Gospel Station. And Tony Gore was included in the music that we played. I had no idea that he owned a BBQ restaurant in Sevierville, TN.

I go to the Great Smoky Mountains pretty often but I have never been to Tony Gore’s. Actually, I think I have never been to any BBQ places there. Ah, the travesty! BBQ is not something that I traditionally look for, but when I do have it, I enjoy it. I have never been to a BBQ restaurant quite like Tony Gore’s BBQ though. When you go there, you better be hungry. They aren’t messing around.
I ordered Chicken Tenders with Macaroni and Cheese. As I don’t know a lot about BBQ, I decided to order something that I knew I would love. Chicken Tenders are always a hit with me. These were very good, though, and the Macaroni and Cheese was amazing! And there was enough on my plate to feet an army. I am not claiming to be a dainty eater, lol, but there was no way I could finish that plate. I would love to meet the person who can.

The table also got Fried Green Tomatoes and Tony’s T Chips as appetizers. The Tony’s T Chips are insanely huge. I am talking 3 times the size of similar chips that you might get at a fair. One of our hosts, Carroll, told us that he once saw someone finish an entire order of those and then eat his meal. Wow. I need to see this once in my life. If you are hungry, trust, Tony Gore’s Smoky Mountain BBQ & Grill will not leave you that way.
They also brought us out dessert. The biggest slices of cake I had ever seen. I tried some of the Caramel Cake. It seriously tasted like caramel and was really moist. I was told that the other desserts were wonderful, as well, though I did not try them.
The food isn’t just plentiful. It’s really good. And the menu had a lot to choose from so that even the casual BBQ fan like myself can find plenty to eat. I think the hardcore BBQ fan will really be pleased. Of what I tried, my favorites were the Fried Green Tomatoes, Macaroni and Cheese and Caramel Cake, so be sure you try those. I had never visited Tony Gore’s Smoky Mountain BBQ & Grill before but I have some friends who love BBQ that I will be introducing to the restaurant very soon.

Wow, you’re not kidding about the portion sizes—you definitely get your money’s worth! It all looks delicious. If we’re ever in the area I’ll definitely give this restaurant a try.

Wow oh wow, those Tony T’s chips (we call them Tator Twisters here) look amazing! Those are some of my favorite things to eat.
My goodness, that dessert looks absolutely yummy. I would love to visit one such restaurant & try out all those delicious food items on the go.
These looks really good. I want to try their Fried Green Tomatoes (never tried one before!) and the caramel cake. I’ve always loved anything with caramel. I even think I love it more than chocolate! lol
If you have never tried fried green tomatoes, you are definitely missing out. And that cake. It really was to die for. 🙂
