Strawberry Shortcake Waffle Pie Recipe #sponsored @Hostess_Snacks #MC #TwinkieCookbook

August 5, 2014 by Dawn McAlexander

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Twinkies. I received samples and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

I have always thought that Twinkies tasted like strawberry shortcake without the strawberries, so when Hostess wanted me to share a tasty way to eat Twinkies, I knew just the recipe that I wanted to share – strawberry shortcake waffle pies! This is not like your mama’s strawberry shortcake because we are waffling it! This makes this recipe great for kids, because how many kids do you know that don’t like waffles?

You will need…
4 Twinkies
1 8 count Grands Biscuits
Strawberry Spread
*waffle iron

Open the biscuits, separate them, and press them flat on the plate. You will then want to add a small amount of the strawberry spread in the center of each biscuit and spread it out – not quite to the ends.

Add a half of a Twinkie to the center of the biscuit and then pull the biscuit together around it, similar to a taco. Make sure to pinch the ends together and remove any excess spread that may have squeezed out. This step is important because if you do not seal the waffle pie all the way, strawberry spread will come out and make a mess all over your waffle iron.

Next, add two waffle pies to the waffle iron, one on each side. You could try to put 3 or 4 if you like as this might make a huge waffle, but I have never tried this as we like the smaller size. Cook until done thoroughly.

You can then eat your Strawberry Shortcake Waffle Pies just as they are like a hand pie or you can add more strawberry spread to the top and eat them like waffles – whatever you like. Enjoy!
