Misfit Shine Wearable Tracker from Best Buy

Have you ever worn calorie trackers/activity log bracelets and thought to yourself, “This thing doesn’t work correctly,” or “This thing is too bulky” or maybe even, “I don’t want to wear one of these things because I don’t want the whole world to know that I’m wearing a calorie counter?” Well, for those of you who have had any of these thoughts, then I may have the solution for you: the Misfit Shine Wearable Tracker.

Misfit Shine Wearable Tracker from Best Buy

Recently, I have been introduced to the Misfit Shine. It is a very modern and sleek looking activity tracker that is so small and lightweight, you hardly know that you are wearing it. This device is slightly larger than a quarter in diameter and is shaped almost like a mentos candy that has been flattened. The Shine has a very simple design, but is sleek at the same time. The device is made from aluminum and comes in four different colors. It also has several tiny dots on its surface that light up when tapped to tell you how much progress you have made throughout the day. When purchased, the Misfit Shine also comes with a rubber wristband and another rubber magnetic band so that you are able to choose how you want to wear it.

Shine is exclusively available in additional colors at Best Buy including Silver, Black, Champagne and Topaz.

Misfit Shine Tech Specifics

But let’s get down to business; Why should you give the Shine Misfit Wearable Tracker a try? First off, this little calorie counter is compatible with the iPhone 4s, 5,5S and 5C, iPod 5th Generation, iPad 3rd and 4th Generation and the iPad Mini. It uses Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to the compatible Apple devices. Once the Misfit Shine is synced with an Apple device, it is capable of tracking how many steps you have taken, how many miles you have walked, ran, swam or biked. It tells you how many calories you need to burn to make your goal for the day, and also keeps track of how much sleep and deep sleep you had from the previous night.

What Comes With The Misfit Shine Wearable Tracker?

The Misfit Shine kit comes with the Shine itself, a CR2032 coin cell battery (which can be purchased at most local grocery stores or discount stores), a rubber bracelet and a rubber magnetic band, a set of instructions, a USB flash drive and a tool to help insert the battery into the Misfit Shine Tracker.

How To Operate The Misfit Shine

The directions are short and simple. Take the battery out of the kit and insert it into the Misfit Shine Wearable Tracker. The metal tool that is included inside of the kit helps to open up the Shine and then you make sure that the battery is facing the right way and close the Shine by pressing it back together until it clicks. After the device is assembled, you will need to download the free Misfit Shine application (App) onto your Apple device — for this I chose my iPad Mini. After the app is downloaded, you just open it up and choose to sign up for an account. The app will then prompt you to enter an email address and password and to also enter your gender, date of birth, height and weight. You can also choose different settings according to your physical activities and how many calories you want to burn in a day.

The most important facts about the Misfit Shine:

-It must be worn at all times for the most accuracy.
-The Misfit Shine can be used in water, but not below 150 ft.
-Although the Misfit Shine is water proof, it can be damaged if used in saltwater for a prolonged period of time.
-Currently, the Misfit Shine is best suited for activities such as walking, running, swimming and cycling.
-The device automatically updates its recordings on the app on your Apple device via Bluetooth 4.0 when located close to the Apple device and the app is open.
-The Shine’s battery life lasts up to 4 months and the battery can be replaced at any time that you feel like it is losing life.
-You can view the built in clock (which is a little difficult to get used to, but easy to read after you figure it out) and how much of your daily goal you have completed by double tapping on the Shine’s surface.

Shine is a gorgeous device that will empower people to be more proactive about their personal health.
