Reading Light From Beam N Read
One reason that I really wanted one was for when the power goes out. I have 2 kids that get really bored when there is no electricity in the house. They usually try to play cards under candle light, but that is difficult. You have to keep the candles at a safe distance and where the cards are facing them, the candle light shines around the cards, which makes them still hard to see. With this, they can see their cards great! The better they can entertain themselves during power outages, the less they whine about how long it will be before the electricity comes back on.
I tried out the LED3, while Dawn reviewed the LED6. The LED3 has a wide and bright personal light from the 3 LEDs that do not burn out. It’s back panel slides open to install 4 standard AA batteries (included) which lasts 120 hours at full brightness. It also comes with a clip on red filter for maintaining night vision. It is amazing how much light it gives off.
My friend Dawn tried the LED6 model. It has 6 LED lights instead of 3. It takes 4 standard AA batteries (not included) that last 50 hours at full brightness using 6 LEDs, 100 hours using 3 LEDs. It has 2 clip-on filters: Red for maintaining night vision and orange for a softer light. This model also comes with a Large 4″ x 5″ Acrylic Fresnel Magnifier for detail work . It attaches to the light with an adjustable clip-on hinge in either vertical or horizontal position.
She reads in the car a bunch and this model is perfect for her because it comes with a magnifying glass. Plus she loves the feature to where she can pick between using 3 led lights or 6. Dawn also used hers recently during an extended power outage {during Hurricane Sandy}. She says that the reading light gives off an incredible amount of light that actually illuminated the entire room when she set it on the table. This made the power outage left bothersome and safer for she and her family.

I have a 13 year old who is a superslueth reader and actually SNEAKS her reads at night when we have sent her to bed. She gets into a book and can’t put it down…just like an old grandma. ME! (well, I am not THAT old but am a granny). anyway, I’d get this for her to read for all her worth….as I think it’s a great thing and could never snuff out her passion for it. Ever. Reading helps you build vocab for ALL subjects and she has not problem in school. I do believe it is because of her reading love. I’d only be concerned there is ENOUGH light to see well without strain. thanks!
