I participated in a campaign on behalf of Millennial Central for Seventh Generation. I received a promotional item and product samples as a thank you for participating.
Did you know that there are over 80,000 chemicals that are available in cleaners and household supplies in the United States that have not been tested fully for how they effect the environment and health? That means that these potentially toxic chemicals could be having adverse effects on consumers health that we aren’t even aware of.
Toxic Chemicals Can Cause Cancer
Scientists have been able to link exposure to toxic chemicals {found in many household cleaning supplies} to many health issues like cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, asthma, birth defects, learning disabilities and many reproductive problems. It’s important to know what is in your household cleaning supplies so that you can make an informed decision when making purchases. Nobody wants to purchase something that might have adverse effects on their health in the future. When you are looking for household items that are free of toxic chemicals, Seventh Generation is an excellent alternative.
We made a good first start when the US passed the Toxic Substances Act in 1976, but it has not been updated since even though many other major environmental laws have. Because of this, over 80,000 potentially toxic chemicals are used by consumer daily. These potentially toxic chemicals have never been properly tested so proper disclosures are not necessarily added to packaging.
What Can You Do To Help Stop The Use Of Toxic Chemicals?
I have teamed up with Seventh Generation to help spread this message. Join us in helping to put a stop to the use of toxic chemicals in our products. Become a Toxin Freedom Fighter by signing Seventh Generation’s petition. This petition aims to urge Congress to reevaluate the Toxic Substances Control Act for the first time since 1976.
You can also pass it around to parents and anyone else that you know who cares about what is in our home goods. You can also help to make those around you know that of the 80,000 synthetic chemicals introduced into the market since the Toxic Substances Control Act was passed in 1976, the EPA has only required testing on less than 10%.
Less than 10%!
That is ridiculous and unsafe.
I want my family to be safe and I do not trust big companies that use toxic chemicals to have my family’s best interest at heart. So, that means that I have to take a stand to ensure that my family is safe and that our collective voice is heard.
I care about my family and I am sure that you care about yours. You can help Seventh Generation send a strong message to Congress by helping Seventh Generation reach its goal of collecting 100,000 Signatures by April 24th, Sign the petition for chemical reform and please urge your friends and family sign the form as well.

We are hit with a lot of toxins and that is why I do a lot of cleansing detoxes. I like there are products out there that don't add to our toxins.
We're in contact with many toxins daily, it's nice to see that there are products who are trying to help with the situation.
Yep! Toxins are the worst! It is great that companies like Seventh generation tries to do something about toxins in our homes
I'm seeing a lot more people becoming so heavily conscious about chemical cleaners... I feel stuck behind. I really need to learn more and change my harmful products for natural options.
Wow I had no idea I have to admit, though I do like greener cleaners I always think they do a better job anyway lol x
This is so awesome! I've been telling my friends about this. It's so important that the TSCA is revisited!
I love that you are raising awareness about being careful about the harmful chemicals that you expose your family to.
I think we all really need to think more about what we're ingesting and breathing! This petition is worth signing!
I do like Seventh Generation products. I have already signed the petition.
I will definitely sign this. We need to be more safe!
