Adopt A Pet Month ~
Did you know that October is Adopt a Pet Month? Have you ever adopted a pet? All of our pets are adopted. We received all of them from friends who were looking to downgrade or from shelters. They have each brought something special to our home and we are thankful that they have come into out lives. The two dogs are mine {they decide who they belong to, after all}. They supervise sit with me when I blog and now they are going to help me share info with you about Adopt a Pet Month. 🙂
Celebrate Adopt A Pet Month By Adopting A New Fur Baby
When you adopt, you are saving an animal that might be taken to the pound. When you adopt, you are providing shelter to a pet that might be left out in the cold, that might not have the resources to take care of itself. When you adopt, you help to put an end to puppy mills and other places that treat animals unethically. And finally, when you adopt, your little fur baby {or fur free baby} saves you right back. 😉

I did not know it was official adopt-a-pet month. We are looking to adopt. We just need to find the right dog for our family. My daughter can't wait.
We are big advocates of adopting, our local animal control sherrif once told me that adopting a pet at the shelter was the biggest and most immediate help to the shelter itself, not donations or volunteers. But a big portion fo the animals at a shelter are also adopted, or bought, and surrendered because the pet parents didn't anticipate how much work raising a new animal would be. So just think it through, before you add to your family!
That's a great point. Adopting a new pet is much like having a new baby. They are not always giggles and smooches, they are someone else to be responsible for and adopting a new animal should be a decision everyone in the family makes together.

Most of my birds were adopted!
I heard about this, my sister adopted both her dogs. It really is a great way to find an addition to the family to love, there are so many furry friends out there that need good homes.
Well, three of my cats adopted me and the fourth we adopted from the shelter. My husband claims I have catdar that brings all stray cats in the neighborhood to our door.
We adopted or literally found on the street all of our cats. I would always go to a shelter to find an animal because too many animals are "put to sleep" for the lack of space, etc.
Pets are all about love and companionship. You gain a friend and family member. Our little girl celebrated her five year adoption anniversary this month.
If I were going to get a pet, I would definitely adopt one.
