Eric Church and the Return Of Country’s Outlaw Movement #MusicMonday

Gosh, it’s rough to get out of bed on Monday, isn’t it? Maybe you are getting ready to head to work. Maybe you are already there. Perhaps Monday is a day of the kid shuttle. Regardless, Monday just got a little better. Why? Because Mr. Eric Church is going to help us through the morning. 😉

For those of you who may not be aware of Eric Church and his music, allow me to introduce you.

This song reminds of the Outlaw Movement that was made so popular in country music with the likes of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson. I feel that artists like Church and Toby Keith are part of that revival. Just as Waylon Jennings professed, ladies do love their outlaws.

Just like many of the “outlaws” back in the day, Eric Church is also no stranger to controversy, doing whatever he wants and saying whatever pops in his head {potentially starting a dreaded Twitter war – apparently a version of modern warfare}. This can get you into trouble but it also makes you entertaining in my opinion. The first time I saw Eric Church in concert was as an opening act for Rascal Flatts in like 2006. I felt that he played a little longer than the allotted time I was used to seeing with other opening acts. But he was FREAKING AWESOME so I didn’t much care. 🙂 He did this version of Black Betty that is the best I have ever heard. He was later removed from the tour for playing too long! I knew I wasn’t imagining things! I have seen Eric Church and Flatts each a few times since then, but never together. 😛

Love love love this song. 🙂 A man’s recounting of love lost. I think most people can relate.

Eric Church also went to Appalachian State like yours truly. 🙂 Woohoo, a Mountaineer! If you would like to see Eric Church in concert, you can catch his tour schedule here.
