Smoky Maple-Glazed Salmon Recipe #sponsored #MC #NutrishforCats

I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Nutrish for Cats. I received a sample of Nutrish for Cats to facilitate this review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

Our cats are part of the family. So, why not feed them food made with real meat instead of a lot of questionable stuff we can’t pronounce? I want my cat to have healthy cat food. I bet you do, too. Today, I am going to share with you a tasty recipe from Rachael Ray for Smoky Maple-Glazed Salmon {for you} and some tasties for your cat, as well.

We received a few varieties of Rachael Ray Nutrish for our cats to try out. We have 6 cats, so all of the varieties of natural food for cats were devoured quickly! However, we did bring the cat up that we call “The Cat With No Name” as we can’t seem to all agree on a name for this particular kitty. Suggestions, anyone? Check her out chowing down on her special bowl of Rachael Ray Nutrish cat food.

While your cat is enjoying his or her tasty dinner, you can also enjoy one of your very own.

Smoky Maple-Glazed Salmon Recipe

You will need…

1 cup brown or white rice {we used white}
1 bundle watercress {stemmed and finely chopped}
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil {divided}
4 medium carrots {peeled and cut into 1/4 inch dive}
1/4 teaspoon all-natural liquid smoke
1/2 cup dark amber maple syrup
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
4 salmon fillets, skin removed {8 ounces each}
2 teaspoons Old Bay seafood seasoning
2 cups frozen sweet peas
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup chives {chopped}
salt and pepper {to taste}

Preparation…

1. Prepare the rice to package directions. When done, fluff with fork and combine with watercress leaves.

2. When rice has been cooking for 5 minutes, pre-heat broiler and heat a skillet over medium-high heat with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add carrots to the pan and season with salt and pepper. Saute to tender-crisp, about 6-7 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, in a small pot, bring liquid smoke, maple syrup and vinegar to a boil and reduce over high heat, stirring constantly for 2 minutes. Remove from heat.

4. Season the salmon with salt, pepper and Old Bay seafood season. Heat the remaining tablespoon olive oil, a turn of the pain, in a large, ovensafe, nonstick skillet and cook the salmon top-side down, 3-4 minutes. Flip and pour the maple syrup glaze over the top of the fish and place under the broiler for 3 minutes to caramelize the glaze.

5. Add the peas to the carrots and heat through while the fish is under the broiler. Add the butter and chives to the veggies. When the butter has melted, turn off the heat.

  • I'm loving the recipe. And I love the Nutrish line! My mom's dog has tried it, and I need to buy some items for my cat. (The cat food wasn't out a year ago.)

  • I do not like fish, nor smoke flavor, so I do not think I would try it, sorry.

    My 2 cats are awesome and would LOVE to win the nutrish cat food because the poor babies were abandoned in a box on the porch of the police station and I adopted them! They deserve to be spoiled and pampered and I love them.

    • No need to be sorry. :) Someone else made a comment about trying it with chicken. Perhaps, you might like that without the smoke flavor?

      That's sad about your cats being abandoned but it's great that you were there to take them in. :)

  • I would love to try this recipe!! We love eating salmon at our house but I've never cooked it with maple syrup :) It looks so good!!
    Our cat, Shadow, was a stray who adopted us when we bought our house. As you can tell she is very smart :) We think she is the best and would love to try Nutrish with her. She deserves a great cat food.

  • This is one of my favorite recipes for salmon! Your peas and carrots look soo good! I'll have to try making them like that this week.

  • Yes, I would like to try this recipe. I have tried smoked salmon before and thought it was great.

  • That salmon looks fantastic! I bet that smoky maple glaze just sends it right over the top. I love sweet glazes like that. I'll have to give this recipe a shot the next time we make some salmon!

    • We bought fresh salmon for the recipe, too, instead of the frozen stuff. I highly recommend doing that if you can.
