Ah, the gifts of spring. I really love spring. The birds, the new baby animals, the flowers, the congestion. Ok, the congestion not so much. If you are like me, spring isn’t quite as awesome for you because of the symptoms it brings. Did you know that there is natural seasonal congestion relief available? Check out this list of tips to help provide seasonal congestion relief.
8 Tips For Natural Seasonal Congestion Relief
#1 Drink Hot Tea
Hot tea is generally my first go-to when I get sick. The hot liquid helps to loosen congestion, while adding other ingredients offers even more relief. If my throat is sore, I like to add a few slices of lemon and a teaspoon of honey.
#2 Use A Humidifier
A humidifier offers congestion relief by adding moisture in the air which loosens congestion. Be sure to clean it regularly, though, per manufacturers instructions, as humidifiers can build up bacteria.
#3 Drink Plenty Of Water
One of the most important tips for congestion relief is to stay hydrated. The more fluids you drink, the easier it is for your body to clear out congestion itself. Plus, you will feel better.
#4 Use A Neti Pot
I have used one of these before and have found that they can provide a lot of congestion relief. There are certain ways that you need to prepare the water mixture before using it, so be sure to read manufacturers instructions thoroughly before trying this method.
#5 Use A Hot Or Cold Pack
I have found that applying heat or cold to the sinus area {especially in intervals} can provide at least temporary relief.
#6 Get Plenty Of Rest
Your body is more able to fight back if you have plenty of rest. I also think, if I am going to be sick, I would rather just sleep through it anyway.
#7 Steam
I have found that holding my head over steam coming from a pot of boiling water often helps loosen congestion as well. It helps if you put a towel over your head to hold more of the steam in. Do this only for a short period of time, though, as steam can burn.
#8 Take Medicine Or Supplements When Needed

I can definitely do number one easily - I love a good cup of tea ;). Thank you for the great tips. x
I have wicked bad seasonal allergies, so this sounds like something I should try. I will give anything a shot if it will make me feel better.
These are great tips, especially having a cup of tea; I do that on a daily basis.
I am a big fan of natural remedies, the neti pot and diffuser are my favorite things. We have used Zarbees and it did work when needed - my son does not refuse to take it when we try to give it to him which is half the battle.
My daughter used to be really hard to administer medicine to. I feel your pain.
I am all into the drinking water and using steam. It worked for me in the past. I like to try to heal naturally before I use pills.
Nothing like something natural to make you feel better the right way!
Stick to lots of water too
Great tips! I don't like tea, so I usually sip on hot water with lemon and honey. I really need to try Zarbee's because I get terrible seasonal congestion.
I am all for natural remedies but sometimes it takes a little it more to help.
I hear so many great things about a neti pot. I wonder if my mom's ever tried it. It just dawned on me that I've never asked her and she is a seasonal sufferer.
I have been taking Zarbee's for about a week now and I'm completely sold on it! It has been amazing for my congestion. I've tried everything the last few months and nothing works like Zarbee's has these last few days.
That is awesome to hear! Thanks so much for sharing your results.
