4 DIY Coconut Oil Body Scrub Recipes You Will Love

I love to have body scrubs, but they can get really expensive. Also, you never quite know how they are going to smell or how well they will exfoliate if you can’t open them up and try them out before buying them. So, I have found an easy solution. I get exactly what I want by making my own Coconut Oil Body Scrub.

DIY Coconut Oil Body Scrub

For this coconut oil body scrub recipe, you can use whatever brand coconut oil you prefer. We just pick up a big container of it at Walmart. This scrub makes my skin so soft and smooth that I rarely ever use lotion now. But coconut oil is not exfoliating, so we add a few things in to make the scrub a scrub. And we add Nielsen Massey Fine Vanillas and Flavors to make it smell lovely. 😉

With these simple instructions, you can have whatever variation of Coconut Oil Body Scrub that you like best. Just skip down to whichever one you think you will like best. There is a full set of instructions for each. They all smell amazing and they only take a few moments to make.

Chocolate Brown Sugar Coconut Oil Body Scrub

We find that this one is great for sensitive skin.

Ingredients for the Chocolate Brown Sugar Scrub:

-1 Cup of Coconut Oil
-3 Cups of Brown Sugar {can be substituted with sugar or salt, if you prefer}
-2 Teaspoons of Nielsen Massey Chocolate Extract
-Something to store the body scrub in {We use canning jars}

How To Prepare The Coconut Oil Body Scrub:

1. Microwave the coconut oil for 30 seconds. Stir. Now, microwave for 30 more seconds. You can also melt the coconut oil down via stove top, if you prefer, but we don’t do it that way, so I am unsure of exactly how long it will take.

2. Make sure the brown sugar is not clumpy. If it is, break it up. Thoroughly mix the three cups of brown sugar into the coconut oil.

3. Now, add in the 2 teaspoons of Nielsen Massey Chocolate Extract as you continue to stir the product.

4. Put the Coconut Oil Body Scrub in a pretty container and scoop out as needed. You can use a spoon from your kitchen or a measuring spoon.

Vanilla Sugar Coconut Oil Body Scrub

We find that this one works best for the average person.

What you will need for the Vanilla Sugar Scrub:

– 1 Cup of melted Coconut Oil
– 3 Cups of Sugar
– 2 teaspoons of Nielsen Massey Vanilla Extract
– Something to store the scrub in

Instructions:

1. First you want to melt the cup of Coconut Oil for 30 second increments in the microwave, stirring between each. Then, pour the oil into a bowl big enough for mixing.

2. Next, add the three cups of sugar while stirring. Keep stirring until the scrub looks nice and mixed. If it appears to have too much liquid, feel free to add more sugar!

3. Now, add two teaspoons of Vanilla Extract. Mix again.

4. Lastly, store the scrub in something cute such as a canning jar!

Lemon and Coconut Oil Body Scrub

We find that this one is great for oily skin.

What you will need:

– 1 cup of Coconut Oil
– 2 cups of Salt
– 2 teaspoons of Nielsen Massey Lemon Extract
– A storage device

Instructions:

1. First, melt the Coconut Oil for 30 second increments, stirring between each.

2. Next, pour the now melted Coconut Oil into a mixing bowl, and slowly add the two cups of salt. Depending on how exfoliating you would like the scrub to be, you might want to add more salt as you mix. (The more salt = the more exfoliation).

3.  Now, add the two teaspoons of Lemon Extract. For a stronger smell, feel free to add more than the recommended amount.

4. Lastly, stir the mixture one last time. Now, cover and store.

Coconut Oil Body Scrub

This one has a really light smell and we find that it works best for mom, who has allergies and asthma. As we are not doctors, we can’t say it will work for everyone. This is just our experience.

What you will need:

– 1 Cup of Coconut Oil
– 3 Cups of Sugar
– Something to store it in

Instructions:

1. First, you need to melt the Coconut Oil for 30 second increments, stirring between each increment.

2. Next, pour the melted substance into a mixing bowl, and begin stirring in the Sugar.

3. Put the scrub into a storage container and use it for smooth feeling skin without all the strong scents!

Helpful Tips For You:

– Sugar or salt can be used for a more intense exfoliating body scrub, but we find that brown sugar is less harsh on the skin for those of us who have a more sensitive skin type and are prone to breaking out.

– After storing, the mixture will settle slightly. That is okay. Just mix a bit before using on skin if you’d like.

– This coconut oil body scrub is all natural and makes a perfect DIY gift, and can save you tons of money on high end body scrubs. Honestly, it makes my skin feel and smell just as good as something I would have spent quite a bit of money on in stores.

– Since this body scrub uses quite a bit of coconut oil, it makes your skin really soft. Also, the sugar allows the scrub to rid your body of dead skin cells and become moisturized and healthier than ever!

– This scrub can also make your shower slick. Be sure to rinse it clean and be careful when stepping out of the tub.

– As with everything, you could be allergic. If you have never used a scrub like this before, be sure to try just a tiny amount first, to make sure it’s something your skin will love.
