Can you imagine what would happen if you told your child that you are replacing all of their Halloween sweet treats with nutritious food like Tofu and Broccoli this year? Crest and Oral-B did just that to a group of kids and, well, the response was very interesting, to say the least.
See How Kids React To Nutritious Candy
“This taste like poopy pinata!”
“Mine tastes like broccoli. Yuck!”
Don’t ruin Halloween for the kiddies! There’s a better alternative. Let the kiddies enjoy Halloween, including the candy, and then make sure they clean and protect their teeth with Crest toothpastes and Oral-B toothbrushes. Also, be sure to take your children to regular dentist appointments to help prevent tooth decay. Then your little ones can have candy AND white teeth {er, fangs} this Halloween. And for many more Halloweens to come!
“You’re saying disgusting stuff is good stuff, and it’s disgusting.”
How Kids Brush Their Teeth Matters
Oral-B recommends we buy our kids toothpaste with fluoride in flavors that they like, such as bubblegum. It is also good to get toothpaste that features characters they like – to help get them excited about brushing.
Teach your child to hold their toothbrush at a 45-degree angle against the gums.
The brush should be moved back and forth gently, in short strokes, over the fronts, backs, and tops of your teeth. Don’t scrub hard along the gum line; you can irritate your gums.
Don’t forget to brush (and floss) behind your top front teeth and behind the bottom front teeth. (The area behind the bottom front teeth is prone to tartar buildup and needs attention.) Use the top bristles of the brush to reach this area—some toothbrushes have a slightly longer tip to make it easier to reach these spots.

Ha, I thought about replacing all their candy. We do let them have a couple things and then I usually hide the rest and they forget about it. :-)
our family does not celebrate halloween but I do like the option of not giving candy and toothpastes, floss, toothbrushes better than candy - great idea!
We won't take their candy away. We just help them eat it so they done have as much. ;)
Lol!
We let our kids have the candy, just a small amount each day and make sure they brush their teeth regularly too.
We always let Lauren choose a few pieces and then we put the rest away for "later" (which didn't always come). Please don't tell her!!! And yes, the teeth must be brushed before going to bed! This is great advise. And you know what else, now that I'm thinking about it, the dentist in the neighborhood often gave out tooth brushes instead of candy!!
LOL :D What a great video! I think a little amount of candy does no harm, just remember to brush teeth later.
Thanks for the coupons!
Great idea, I give out natural snacks also.
I'd love a Halloween without candy for my kids, but really it wouldn't have the same magic. Have you heard of the Switch Witch? Or Candy Fairy? Check those out- some neat ideas for dealing with candy overload! :)
I can only imagine the tears and sighs of a Halloween without candy. And that would just be me! ha!
Hahaha!
