Who Are Your Favorite One-Hit Wonders?

National One-Hit Wonders Day ~

September 25th is National One-Hit Wonders Day. We’ve all heard them. Those songs that just stick like a piece of gum on your shoe. But, just like that piece of gum you have to scrape off your shoe with a stick, it’s singer is soon left in the dust.

In honor of One-Hit Wonders everywhere, I offer you this list of some of the greatest and catchiest one-hit wonder songs ever {in my opinion}. And please feel free to add your favorites in the comments section. For the purposes of this article, a one-hit wonder will be an artist who scored one big hit on a chart and nothing further {except for maybe a minor hit, to date}.

She’s Like The Wind – Patrick Swayze

Yes, we all know he was MEGA talented in lots of other areas {acting, dance} but he only had one charted song – and boy was it a good one. It went to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in February of 1988 and it also made it to #1 on the Adult Contemporary Chart. I still love this song and I am sad that he didn’t release more music when he was still with us.

Hemorrhage {In My Hands} – Fuel

When this song came out, I didn’t know who sang it for the longest time. But, when I did find out who sang it, I played it over and over. I still love it to this day and I love Fuel’s music in general. Whether they charted many hits or not, I was unaware until I started researching one-hit wonders for this blog post. At any rate, I love their music. 🙂

Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Deep Blue Something

I think I have heard this in a ton of movies. Wherever I hear it, it always gets stuck in my head for days later. It’s a very catchy tune!

Tubthumping – Chumbawamba

Hahaha! Yes, it’s annoying, but it’s catchy. No? I get this song stuck in my head quite often. As soon as someone says something about falling down, there it is. For days. And now you can be singing it for days, too. You’re welcome.

Also, some honorable mentions go out to…
Cotton Eyed Joe – Rednex
No Rain – Blind Melon
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida – Iron Butterfly
Tainted Love – Soft Cell
Keep Your Hands To Yourself – Georgia Satellites
Life Is A Highway – Tom Cochrane
Mambo #5 – Lou Bega
