Winnie The Pooh Day

Winnie The Pooh Day ~

Happy Winnie The Pooh Day to you! Today is a day of celebration in honor of A.A. Milne {aka Alan Alexander Milne}, the wonderful writer behind Winnie The Pooh, who was born on this date in 1882. I am not sure that I have ever met a child who didn’t love Winnie The Pooh and his friends, Christopher Robin, Piglet, Eeyore and the rest of the gang. I even know many adults who wear clothing featuring the beloved characters!

Winnie The Pooh Day

If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.
― A.A. Milne, Winnie The Pooh

An interesting thing to learn about Winnie The Pooh’s creator, A.A. Milne, is that he was educated by H.G. Wells {man, these men like their abbreviations/vague anonymity don’t they?} who was best known for writing War Of The Worlds.  Had these two teamed up in writing, ol’ Winnie could have been quite a different bear. And Piglet might have really had something to be nervous about for a change. 😉

Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
― A.A. Milne

On Disney’s site, you can learn tons of fun facts about Winnie the Pooh and all of his other friends in the 100 Acre Wood, as well as take a personality quiz to see which character you are most like. This should give you plenty of ideas to celebrate Winnie The Pooh Day!

Before my daughter was even born, we started buying all of the humongous collector stuffed animals in the Pooh collection. I think that her personal favorite was Tigger and we used to watch his movie over and over again. After all, he was the bounciest!
