Election Day – Don’t Forget To Vote!

It’s Election Day and I definitely do not want to open a political discussion that could potentially turn into a political fight. I just wanted to say that everyone should vote. My husband and I got up early just for this occasion. He works a weird shift that is somewhat of a hybrid of 2nd and 3rd shift and 8am is really early for him. We are also in the middle of a floor remodel and that could have been an excuse to get out of it, as well, should we have chosen to use it… However, voting is very important to us both, so we made sure to make it happen.

It’s Election Day: Get Out And Vote

Growing up, I heard lots of adults who fussed and griped incessantly about politicians, laws and anything else having to do with government. It always amazed me that when I would ask certain individuals who they voted for they would say, “I didn’t vote because my vote doesn’t count,” or “There is no one worth voting for,” or similar things. That is ridiculous! That is like saying, “I am not going to brush my teeth because I know that one day I will wear dentures anyway.” Yeah, that may be true, but that day doesn’t have to be when you are 25.Also, we took our daughter to the polls with us so that she also hopefully understands the importance of voting. This is a great opportunity to teach your children about the election process and how government in a democracy works.

My point is this – be proactive! VOTE! You may feel there is no one worth voting for. Whatever. But if you are not willing to vote, I surely don’t think you have the right to knock who I vote for {a choice I will not be discussing here, wisely}. Nor do I feel you have a right to complain about laws or any other government related processes. You have only so many chances to make your voice heard in this big of a way. If you are too lazy to walk when it matters, then why talk when it doesn’t?

Have You Voted Yet Today? If Not, Do You Intend To Vote?
