Fight like a Girl ~
My best friend helped design our team’s logo and catch phrase: Operation Save 2nd Base – Don’t Let Cancer Steal 2nd Base. Our entire office walked for the cause with pride. My best friend was even interviewed by the local paper. When the reporter asked her why she was supporting the cause, she happily replied, “I’m all about saving the boobies.” Although, she felt a little silly for being quoted, we were very proud that she made our local newspaper.
My best friend is a very energetic, happy-go-lucky type of girl. She is known for her bubbly personality and adding a little sunshine in everyone’s day. She talks to anyone and everyone; she knows no strangers. However, she recently met a stranger that we all fear, Breast Cancer.
My friend met Breast Cancer by accident. She wasn’t looking for it, she certainly didn’t expect it, she simply went for a mammogram after being laid off from work. Her insurance was going to expire at the end of September and she decided to go to the doctor and get her yearly check-up out of the way before the month ended. A mammogram and biopsy later, my friend was given the dreaded news that she has two forms of Breast Cancer and would need to undergo an MRI to find the second cancer as the pathology revealed what the doctors could not see.
As my friend is awaiting the MRI results, we are left with the unknown. My friend is more scared of the unknown than the cancer itself. We are all hoping and praying that the doctors found the cancer early and they will work their ninja doctor powers on my friend.
At this point, I feel extremely helpless. I can’t say anything that will make her feel better, ease her fears, or perform an exorcism to expel this demon from my friend’s body. But, I can do something to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer research.

Cancer is very scary for those that go through it and those that are there to support. Even though you may be at a loss of what to say or do I know that fact that you are there really helps. Best wishes and healing thoughts for you friend.

This is a very worthy organization. I am sorry about that your friend has been diagnosed with cancer and I hope that she will be able to successfully beat it.
