Talk Like a Pirate Day ~

With all of the popularity concerning pirates lately, who wouldn’t want a day set aside specifically to talk like one? Well, today is your lucky day! September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

According to Wikipedia, International Talk Like a Pirate Day began in 1995 by John Baur (Ol’ Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap’n Slappy). One of these guys got a sports injury and yelled, “Aaarrr.” It was an insider joke for a while until they introduced the idea to comic Dave Barry and it escalated from there. International Pirate Day even has it’s own Facebook page with over 86K likes!

Talking like a pirate is so easy, even idiots can do it. “I need TP for me bung hole!” Apparently even Beavis and Butthead spoke like bung holes, er pirates.

“Bung hole – Victuals on a ship were stored in wooden casks. The stopper in the barrel is called the bung, and the hole is called the bung hole. That’s all. It sounds a lot worse, doesn’t it?”
