Yep, I’m a Crappy Mom, Too + Linky! #NotACrappyMom

Crappy Mom ~

So, it seems that there are tons of not-so-perfect mothers out there. What?! *Gasp* You know the ones I am talking about. The moms that don’t carpool 5 kids to 17 weekly activities while staying perfectly made up and put together. These are the same moms that don’t make their kiddos perfectly symmetrical and made from scratch cupcakes for her kids and the entire team, as well. They don’t have both a perfectly manicured garden – oh, and a perfect manicure. I admit it. My name is Dawn, and I am a crappy mom.

I am a crappy mom because…

I kiss my husband in front of our daughter.

I let her stay up until pretty much whenever she wants most nights.

She has a TV and her own DVR in her room.

My husband does the laundry.

My husband does most of the cooking, too. I hate to cook and he loves it.

We don’t eat at a kitchen table, we eat in the living room in front of the TV and watch Beverly Hills 90210 reruns together daily.

I let her have a cell phone at 9. She is 15 now. And she still has a cell phone. And she hasn’t gone over the minutes once.

Sometimes I yell. Ok, often I yell.

I often yell empty threats of groundings and cell phones being taken away.

I don’t spank (for all of you who do).

I let her listen to whatever music she wants.

I let her wear whatever clothes she wants.

I let my daughter go on out of state field trips.

I have taken her to tons of concerts – all different genres.

I have taken her shopping in the middle of the night on a weekend.

I let my daughter have all of the makeup/beauty products that I am asked to review on this site. All.

I was a single mom until my daughter was 9 and I worked 2 jobs to make ends meet.

I then dropped one job and finished my college education.

And most of all, I love her more than life itself.

  • I am right there with you. I live in the world of perfect moms and I will never fit in. I play with my kids when we are at the park, the moms here send their kids with the nannies. I have no issues with theirs, but mine way works well for me and I have so much fun!

  • That was sooo funny yet so true!! Apparently i'm a crappy mom because I won't let the kids have their own way all of the time !!

  • I love these posts! Get rid of the mom hate and embrace each other as mothers/parents who CARE about their children, period. I am on the opposite end of the spanking but I wouldn't imagine that daughter would take too kindly to getting spanked at 15 haha. I'm working on my crappy mom post too!

  • I love seeing others parenting ways of dealing with their children. I think all situations are different and we have ideas of how we think we will be as a parent. When I had #2 my son was only 18 months and hubby had just finished chemo. I did a lot of things I would have never thought I would do just to get by (like let me son who had stopped nursing have a bottle so I could sleep a few hours at night). I think it is great to put things like this out there to let moms know it is okay, we don't have to be perfect all the time.
