Gingers and Tans ~

I was reading over at How Was Your Day about Greta’s trials with being a Ginger. I think “ginger” is a relatively new term, or at least it is to me. I know that when I was a kid I was always called “Red” or “Carrot Top” or some other variation of the two that was nowhere near as original or as funny as the person bestowing said name upon me seemed to think it was.

TV Shows That Dominate Our Television #shepromotes

Must See TV Shows..

So, I was reading on Shary Loves You today all about the TV shows that fill her waking hours. {Incidentally, Shary originally credits this post idea to Kecia from Southern Girl Ramblings – ah, the circle of blog life} Shary has a small child, so as one might conclude, her TV viewing hours consist of the Dora and Blue’s Clues variety. That is so funny – my daughter is now 15 and she absolutely LOVED Blue’s Clues as a small child. Had I not seen Shary’s post, I may have never known that Blue’s Clues is still on TV today. My daughter’s favorite, however {and yes, I might suffer a slow and painful death if she sees this} was Barney. What Inspires You?

What Inspires You ~

Today I was reading over Evolution Parenting and clicked on “Inspire” on the Menu. I really love this category on Evolution Parenting. I especially liked of the posts about books. As most of you know I am doing a reading challenge this year. I have challenged myself to read 60 books for Goodreads’ 2012 Reading Challenge. I am on book #15 for this year so far and, admittedly, I have gotten kind of lazy on this one. However, Goodreads states that I am still “on track” so I guess I am doing okay. :)

Today I was reading over Our Family World Blog and learned that today is International Stand Up To Bullying Day. I had never heard of this before, but I find it to be a very worthy cause. It is so sad how many children get bullied everyday – especially when they are bullied for things that they really can not help, like out of style clothing and poor housing because their parents can not afford better. Children are so vulnerable and they just don’t understand that when they are picked on that it isn’t really about them, it’s because of the insecurities of the bully.

New Year Goals – Have You Stuck To Them?

New Year Goals ~

I was reading Living Off Love and Coffee’s blog today and ran across this post about New Year Goals. She has a nice Google Calendar with her weekly blog goals on it. And they are color coded, which I LOVE! I have a planner that I use and I like to write which events that Cheap Is The *New* Classy will be part of and, guess what, they are color coded, too. It’s the little things in life. ;)
