Chicken Soup For The Soul Boost Your Brain Power

The latest book I have read would have to be Chicken Soup for the Soul: Boost Your Brain Power! Though I first thought that this book might be humorous, I soon realized that it would be a great read for any age person who feels that they need to “sharpen” their brain.

Chicken Soup For The Soul – Messages From Heaven Review #spon

Chicken Soup For The Soul – Messages From Heaven ~

While reading Chicken Soup for the Soul’s “Messages from Heaven”, I found that the stories in this book really catch your attention. They are interesting and unique. Although these aren’t the type of stories that I can read back to back  as they can be quite sad at times, they are great to read one or two a day (I might also add that the stories are short and easy to read). Chicken Soup for the Soul: Say Hello to a Better Body!: Weight Loss and Fitness for Women Over 50Chicken Soup for the Soul: Say Hello to a Better Body!: Weight Loss and Fitness for Women Over 50 by Dr. Suzanne Koven

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Chicken Soup For the Soul books are always really good in my opinion. I love how they take related stories from real people and compile them into inspirational books. This particular Chicken Soup For The Soul book is called “Say Hello To a Better Body: Weight Loss and Fitness for Women Over 50.” Although this book is geared toward 50+ women, as a 35 year old female, I found a lot of useful information and advice from a group of women that I would still think of as peers.

Writers On The Edge {Sponsored Book Review}

Recently, I read a very touching book called Writers on the Edge: 22 Writers Speak About Addiction and Dependency by Diana M Raab. What made it so touching was that it shared the personal stories of people who either suffered from some kind of addiction or had to deal with someone who did. As you may know, addiction is something that millions of people across the world suffer from. Many people think that there is no way that they could ever become an addict, but that is quit untrue. If you take the time to read this memorable book, you will see that through the journey of these authors.

When reading Saffron Dreams by Shaila Abdullah, I was emotionally moved on several instances. This book is great in many ways. It tells about the ways people have to struggle in life, and the things they have to go through. When reading this book, you will meet a girl named Arissa. When she meets an incredible man and moves from Pakistan to New York with him, things seem pleasant, then the unthinkable happens..

“Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins {Book Review}

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Well, I know that I am in the VAST minority on this one but I just didn’t really care for this book. I would possibly give it 2 stars, even, but when in doubt I like to ere on the high side. It wasn’t that the concept of the book wasn’t good or that it wasn’t suspenseful, by any means. There are just some real issues that I felt the book has that make it seem way less believable, and I will attempt to explain them here. Please feel free to disagree (or agree) with me in the comments below.

“Night Road” by Kristin Hannah {Book Review} #2012readingchallenge

Night Road ~

Night RoadNight Road by Kristin Hannah

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My first introduction to Kristin Hannah was the book “Firefly Lane.” Admittedly, I bought the book because of the pretty cover (as all her books seem to have, I’ve since learned). But, as I soon realized when I read the book, it was fabulous! It did take me a while to get to another book by her, though, as romance or chic lit type books aren’t usually my go-to choices.

Mackenzie Phillips and High On Arrival ~

High on ArrivalHigh on Arrival by Mackenzie Phillips

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Wow. I think this was definitely the hardest autobiography I have ever read. I can’t even really decide what my opinion is on this book. At moments I loved it and at moments I just felt so bad for Mackenzie that I had a hard time getting through the rest of the book. And yes, sometimes I wanted to knock some sense into her.
