I know that many of you have been on your own weight loss journeys recently, just like I have. From October to December, I was on the Medifast Go! program. I have struggled with my weight my entire life and have never been skinny or even average weight. I have tried many diets but I think that I wasn’t necessarily ready to deal with the emotional stuff that you also need to deal with in order to keep the weight off. For me, losing weight isn’t really that hard. I have been doing that my whole life. Keeping it off is the challenge. So, a little over a month post Medifast Go! I feel like I have been successful and that I have learned a lot and I am going to share that with you today.
4 Things I Learned On My Medifast Go! Weight Loss Journey
1. Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day – And my weight gain didn’t happen overnight. So, I can’t expect to lose all of the weight that took years to gain in a few weeks. I have lost 24 pounds on the Medifast Go! program so I feel like I have been successful. And I am learning to be patient.
2. Plateaus Happen – And they stink. I had some really great momentum when I first started Medifast Go! I lost over 11 pounds in the first 2 weeks and was really inspired. Then the weight loss slowed and then stopped for a short while. That was when I stepped up my workout routine [after a short discouragement period]. My weight loss finally started again, I just had to be patient and work through it.
3. My Weight Does Not Define Me – I have been smaller as an adult and I have been bigger. I’m hoping to continue getting smaller because I feel most comfortable smaller. It’s not for anyone else. It’s for me. With every pound I lose, I feel a little better about myself. And I love that feeling.
4. My Health Matters – I have had high blood pressure since age 20 [and I was smaller then]. For the first time in 20 years, I no longer have high blood pressure. I think that is due to a combination of factors. I have worked hard to reduce stress in my life and over the past few years, I have lost over 50 pounds [I lost 24 of those pounds with Medifast Go!]. Though I was thinner in my 20s, the weight gain over the years couldn’t have helped matters. I have decided to start caring more about myself and doing what I need to do to take care of my health because I deserve that.
