How Dirty Is YOUR Car’s Cabin Air Filter? Fight Allergies With #FresherCar #cbias #sponsored

FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter ~

FRAM Cabin Air Filter with Fresh Breeze

As many of you know from reading previous posts on this blog, I am an allergy sufferer. I also have asthma that is exacerbated by allergies, so I definitely need to try to keep my allergy symptoms in check. In our home, we make sure to try to dust often, clean bedding frequently, keep the windows closed and air on, and I stay inside on the worst pollen days. But one thing I have never thought about was how my car’s cabin air filter could be triggering my allergies.

Allergies and You: Changing Your Cabin Air Filter Is Easy Peasy

I will be honest, when I learned I was going to get to review a FRAM air filter, I thought it meant the one under the hood. The cabin air filter is a little bit different, though – and just as important. Don’t let “different” scare you, though, ladies. This one is just as easy peasy to change as the the one under the hood. And, if you are still daunted, the awesome folks at FRAM have supplied some awesome printables and videos to help you on your clean air journey. Or you can just make your husband do it. There’s always that. ;)

We decided to get a FRAM Fresh Breeze Air Filter with Arm and Hammer Baking Soda for our 2007 Chevrolet HHR. The FRAM instructional video estimated full installation time to be about 15 minutes. That’s awesome! I definitely don’t want to fill my Saturday afternoon with long and tedious car maintenance – so anything FRAM can do to help me out is thoroughly appreciated. ;)

Installation of the FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter in our 2007 Chevy HHR was a breeze. All I had to do {aka made my husband do} was…

  1. Your cabin filter wasn’t too bad compared to mine!! Love that your cat helped =)

    • Dawn McAlexander says:

I thought ours looked disgusting. I am scared to go back and look at yours if it is worse. Lol!

  2. I never thought about the car. I have allergies and where we live everything is coated green outdoors. This is something to check into.

    • Dawn McAlexander says:

Everything is green here, too. I love this time of year for the pretty trees and flowers, but I also hate this time of year for the pretty trees and flowers. ;)

  3. Jennifer says:

    I’ll check in this!

  4. We don’t get anything done around here without feline assistance either! I never knew about that filter. I’ll have to show the hubby as he has a terrible time with allergies. Thanks!

  5. I need one of these So badly! But my car is older. I hope they have one for my make/model. Our filter is disgusting!

    • Dawn McAlexander says:

We also have an older car – a 2002 Jeep Liberty. I need to check and see if they offer cabine air filters {or if the car even has one??} as well.

  6. I have been looking for a good filter…looks like my search is over.

  7. Great tips. I have bad spring allergies so I’ll be sure to check out filter.

  8. I do replace mine often and I do use Fram.

  9. Jenna M Wood says:

I am getting a FRAM Fresh Cabin Filter for my dad for Father’s Day, but I couldn’t locate them in stores here (though we have 3 WalMarts), so I had to order it. Can’t wait for the fresher air!

    • Dawn McAlexander says:

Oh, I am glad that you were at least able to order that. What a thoughtful Father’s Day present!

  10. after reading this i should probably check and see how dirty ours is :/

  11. I always worry about pollen inside the home. I never thought about it in my car. Good info.

    • Dawn McAlexander says:

Thanks a bunch! Sadly, I never did either. It never occurred to me that I should change a cabin air filter before.

  12. I don’t even want to think about how nasty mine must be. YUCK. Cute kitty checking it out.

  13. Ashley S says:

Thanks for reminding me to do this! I meant to do it like a year ago lol

  14. I didn’t even know vehicles had filters! I need to ask my boyfriend about this!!

  15. I probably need one of these in my car! Never knew you could buy these.

  16. I need to have my car checked I have allergies all summer that I deal with and maybe this will help when we travel, Thanks for sharing!

  17. We have our filter changed as needed at our Honda dealership otherwise I would not have know about this filter at all. I think they use the Fram brand I know hubby used that brand on our older car.

  18. I need to look into these filters! I haven’t switched mine out in a while! YIKES!

  19. Judy Gregory says:

I only recently became aware these even existed. Thanks for the info.
