Washington D.C. Trip ~
John Austin had a great time on his school trip to Washington DC.  When they first got there they stopped at McDonalds to get something to eat.  John Austin was amazed by their McDonalds.  It had 2 floors and that amazed him.  He even had to call me and tell me about it.  I thought it was kind of funny how excited he got over the two story McDonalds.

Then they went to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.  He loved it there.  He talked for hours about the things he saw and learned.  One of his favorite things that he saw there was the Hope Diamond. He loved all the dinosaur bones and seeing a real live mummy was in his words “cool”.

White House

White House
They went to the White House and got to take some pictures of the outside.  My son doesn’t normally dress like that but him and all his friends bought a Washington DC hat while they were there.  Of course, he had to wear it backwards during his picture.  He said he saw someone looking out one of the windows at the White House.  I told him it was probably the Secret Service.

Arlington National Cemetery

They went to the Arlington National Cemetery and watched the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  He came home and told me all about the 21 gun salute.  If you don’t know what that is, you should check it out here. I was amazed that my son came home and could remember everything about the 21 gun salute.

He learned so much on this trip.  I am so thankful to his school for giving him such a wonderful opportunity.
