What’s For Dinner? Stuffed Cabbage! #whatsfordinner

*This recipe is for the slow cooker.

Ingredients

12 large cabbage leaves

1 pound lean ground beef or lamb (I used ground beef)

1/2 cup cooked rice (I use 1 1/2 cup)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon black pepper (I used 1/4 teaspoon)

1 can (6 0z) tomato paste

3/4 cup water

 

Prepare

Immerse cabbage leaves in boiling water. Turn heat off. Soak leaves in water for 5 minutes. Remove. Drain and cool.

Combine remainging ingredients except tomato paste and water. Place 2 tablespoons beef mixture on each cabbage leaf and roll firmly. Stack in slow cooker. Combine tomato paste and 3/4 cup water and pour over stuffed cabbage. Cover and cook on Low 8-10 hours.

  2. I havent made stuffed cabbage leaves in awhile. I do make stuffed peppers more often tho I prefer the cabbage more then the rest of my family. I make stuffed pepper soup also which we like and Im sure you could do that with the cabbage to. Never thought of that before but Im sure gonna try it. Thanks for the great recipe. Enjoy ; )

    I grew up on Stuffed Cabbage & Stiffed peppers.
    So when I make stuffed cabbage(Gołąbki) I make alot and cook them in a electric roaster. I usally make 4 peppers just for me and hubby….. Oh boy now I am hungry for stuffed cabbage(Gołąbki)

    i love cabbage and these look so good. i havent had cabbage rolls for a long, long, long time. my mom used to make them a lot when we were kids. i dont eat meat but i bet i could turn this into a ‘meat free’ recipe.
